  • i hate star rubies..

so i finally build up about 15kpp and decide to throw it at getting the final 6 points for my chosen gm trade.. pottery

and all is going well, 4 stacks of rubies (about 6k worth) later and i've got 5 points.. so skill at 249 with 9k left, looking good i thought, but no.

100 combines later and i'm down to 300pp left and still at 249 skill

at times like this i'm wishing that some coding bug suddenly puts the LDoN code for destroyable furniture onto pottery wheels...

*sigh* i'd like to extend my apologies to any fellow Potters on Drinal for dumping 80 star ruby steins onto the market in one go..

    ** edit **

how bad of me is that? i get 5 skillups in 160 combines and i'm unhappy..

now you gotta decide how many components to buy for that final point....

You know if you buy a stack you will get it on the first attempt!

People tend to get focused on that 'must get last point' goal and start counting. My personal suggestion is to take a step back, and look at what you want to make 'because you want to make it' whether that is to use, give to friends/guildmates, or sell. Then, just make those, and just happen to keep your wis/int up (along with that geerlok to give you the max skill level). In my experience that final skillup will come naturally as make things rather then feeling the need to push through combines just to get it.

oh i'll get that last point, you see it's a matter of principal

i've been doing pottery since leksander was level 3, for him it's all part of being the assassin, i mastered pottery so that i could make my vials, which allowed me to grandmaster in making poisons, it just seems right to take pottery to 250 also.

i don't play eq much now, i maybe log in once a week for a couple of hours.. i dont raid anymore, i very rarely xp either, so i'm just playing eq to finish up the last few things i want for my charecter..

..it's going pretty well for me too, i got the full suit of ravenscale way back, and i'm working towards full stanos' armour (just the stupidly expensive bits to go ) .. i've had my epic for 2 years (and now bagged it for a bazaar bought dagger )

i've gm'd in poison, mastered all the player languages and made a start on the non player ones, i'm one point off gm'ing pottery.. once i've done that i'll finish up the other tradeskills to 200. starting with jewellery 'cause i only have another 6 points to find in that one

          Try this:

Put the stuff for 10 combines in your bags. Every time you go into a zone with a nearby pottery wheel, do *ONE* combine and then stop.

Ive always had a hunch that having long delays between things increased the chances of uncommon things occuring.

If i dont nuke or heal anything for a while, it just *seems* more than likely the next heal or nuke i cast will be a crit. the same probably also holds true for skillups.

But then again, i may be insane.
