Thank you very much for telling me how to get rid of the spam.

Though, I must say, I didn't get rid of it until after I had sent a rather blistering feedback about what I thought of them spamming me with requests to pre-order again something I had very deliberately cancelled my pre-order of in protest to unfixed issues already existing within the game.

Spell slots AND buff slots AND more levels. If I continue to stick to my guns, I will soon be the only lvl 65 player in my guild. There are a lot of inducements, but considering my class is screwed sideways on a number of issues right now, I am holding firm with the "no thanks" on OOW till they are fixed or we at least get a proper consideration of them.

Clearly listed is an opportunity to gain a 9th spell slot.

Since almost every "bullet point" of the features list includes "quest" or "earn" and usually BOTH it's probably 50/50 or better that the extra spell slot WILL involve a quest.

Although it's also reasonable to deduce that one would have to do quests to "unlock" higher levels, or vice versa, before undertaking the title/spell-slot quests.

            Oh, bloody....

            Quest A = Unlock levels 66 - 67 ....

Earn level 67 to unlock Quest B

            Quest B to unlock levels 68 - 69

Level 69 to begin Quest C

            ... lather, rinse, repeat....

I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that they stated explicitly that no quests will be involved to get higher levels.

I took about a 6th month vacation away from EQ around December and came back recently in June. Recently I've seen some of my friends show me some awesomely Uber stuff coming out of GoD. Now I don't have GoD myself (yet... still don't know if I'm going to get it) although there are some really nice AA's for Thiefs. What is starting to concern me is the Uberness it's making some players. To me, it's starting to make playing in some of the lower level area's boring because the gear you can get makes fighting too easy.

I have a friend who plays a Thief like myself and he says he can tank just about as good as a War/Pal/SK. He's got over 8K hp buffed. What's the use of class balance if we can be everything else?

I'm not in a big guild and we don't raid or have the ability to go to any of the High End PoP zones, although we are supposed to be getting a few PoTactics flagged here soon, but I have friends in some Uber guilds and some of the items that are being dropped are spectacular. Then I start thinking... with some of the items now available, some of these areas that require groups will become soloable by some classes. And when OOW comes out? Places like BoT will probably go the route of Karnor's... Empty... except for those up and coming players who are Pleveling alts.

Right now, I have no intention of ordering OOW, even if I want to become Level 70.

Just an opinion of a Not So Uber Level 65 Thief who struggles to kill Light Blue mobs in Karnors when he can't find a group... And enjoys the challenge.

They stated explicitly that there would not be _AA_Point_ requirements to advance levels. There was a NASTY rumor going around that one would need certain numbers of AA points to unlock higher levels. This was started, in my opinion, by "elitist" people who feel that if you don't have 250+ AA points you don't deserve to be level 66.

"Level Cap Increase - Develop your character beyond level 65. Unlock new innovative items, powerful spells, and thrilling quests."

Now that certainly reads well from the "once you turn 66 you get new spells and access to new quests" because there are some level dependant quests. (Epics hop straight to mind) But it could certainly be read the other way, if you are paranoid enough.

*Itek takes 2 yellow and 1 blue pills*

                    *etheral voice*

But I'm probably letting my imagination get ahead of me... SOE certainly wouldn't bottleneck people up like that.

Seb, HS, VP, Dragon Teeth Gates, Skyshrine Key, ST, Seru, SSra, VT, PoP pre-"level gimp", GoDiscord... Bah what's a track record anyway?

Anyone remember the old-old-Cazic-Thule. Rubicite? Lower Guk/Sol B camp lists? The ancient JBoots when they were mob drop?

The reason I have not bought EQ-II yet... ??

Because I refuse to join a guild to get a place on the camp list for a_bat_04 in GFay. Think that won't happen? Anyone remember "orc hill" from the bad old days? EQ-Atlas Map ... #6 Trainer Hill ("Where camping was born...")

I'm not saying there will be quests to unlock levels. They haven't ever done that before and I think it'd be silly to start it now. But SOE has been in a cycle of foot shooting lately.

I love it when marketing departments keep spending untold time trying to make customers lives more of a hassle in hopes of them spending money for being bothered. Buying themselves peace. Especially since it always ends with the customers spending untold time trying to find new ways to rid themselves of the pestering of the marketers. It's like evolution, they keep trying to find new ways to trap and hunt us, we keep trying to find new ways to avoid them. I mean in general here, not just EQ.

Really, it would have been nice if after like 5 times there came up a screen that said "Are you absolutely sure you don't want to order OoW? Click here to never get nagged about this again". I mean around the 5th time you say No it's becoming pretty clear to any non-marketing human over the age of 8 that you're probably not changing your mind.

Well, I like to think of them as a sub-species. They're clearly in human form and share some DNA with us same as neanderthals, not as smart though and far more aggressive - yet they lack the cuddly cuteness of say gorillas, chimps or orangutans so it's doubtful we could classify them with those primates.

Edit: Although now that I think of it it is entirely possible they are the spawns of the Elder Gods come to bring madness, destruction and creepy tentacle things to us...

I won't be buying OOW for the same reason I didn't get it previously...

                            Why bother?

I'm level 54, been slowly grinding my way to 55 over the past month. I'm not an uber player, I'm just a regular working joe. I haven't heard of a SINGLE THING that OOW does that would affect me in the SLIGHTEST. Everything is set exclusivly for the Uberguilds(tm) and upper end content I will never see.

Oh goody, level cap goes up to 70. That's nice, I haven't gotten to 65 yet... and I've played my character since Oct of 2000.

Oh goody, they're putting in another spell slot... oh wait, I play a monk.

Oh goody, they're putting in craptons of new AA... oh wait, you need to be over 65 to use them.

Oh goody, they're putting in new zones... oh wait, they make GoD zones look like old world and you need to have finished GoD and farmed upper end GoD or you'll die by being sneezed on.

Oh wait... no one has even finished GoD yet, to my knowledge. There's still no loot lists for the end mobs for GoD. Why put out another expantion when the previous one hasn't been finished yet?

I could go on, but why bother when SoE doesn't listen?

OMG I so need to remember that statement for later use...

Right now I'm working for a company, helping cleaning up a huge mess the marketing department made when they thought it would be a great idea to ask an entire state's worth of customers if they want their personal information shared. "If you DON'T want us to share your information, you need to send in this non-pre-paid postage form, send a fax to these two non-working fax numbers, or call the company and be shuttled into voice mail hell for a while. If we don't hear from you, we're going to assume you don't mind us giving your personal information out to all our affiliates"

Marketing honestly expected only about 10,000 responses. Right now it's over 75k and growing. You should SEE the messages these people scrawl all over the forms, it's a major hoot. Such vitriol... it's like the old Sony boards way back when.

(scary thing is... none of the other 49 states are getting that mailer. It's not legally required in those states. I can just imagine what will happen when all the other customers in the country find out that not only were they NOT asked, and therefore there info has already been shared, but one state only had the mailer because is was required by law!)

*makes the warding sign for Marketing*
