I finally got all the pieces to combine for Xanthe's earring of nature. I'm in PoK and need to find the forge, so I bring up my map. Odd, nothing, it's completely blank. I try it a couple more times, but nothing. I don't think much about this, just some type of glitch in PoK that will reset itself next time I log on.

I know roughly where the forge is, so I run over there. I put the items into the forge and click combine.....voila! I get my earring and spell. And wait, what's that message on my screen?.......My blacksmithing has increased by one point, it's now at 1 ?!?!

But that's impossible, I'm wearing the 7th coldain prayer shawl, my smithing skill is roughly 170. So I check my skills and oh no, sure enough, it says 1, awful.

I zone into nexus. Nope, still says 1. Log to windows and back on, but still one. So I send off a bug report.

I haven't a clue what it was that caused this, but if I find out, will post back so others can avoid it and the hassle I'm going through.

a friend of mine had all his skill reset to 0, GM told him there was never a log of him having them, he currently carries several trophies.

I had a very minor version of this happen to me when GoD went live...I lost 5 tailoring skill points. The only thing I can suggest is when you're trying to get the attention of the GM's and SoE, BE PERSISTENT. By the time I got my points restored, I was long past the point where I'd given up hope and was just being stubborn at that point. I tried everything from repeated petitions to calling SoE in CA and getting transferred around until I got a live voice that would listen. Once I got to that point, it was fixed inside of a week.


Don't give up and don't let them tell you it can't be fixed 'cause I'm here to tell you it can...I've been there!

Just an update. I'd originally sent off a bug report and a petition. Got reply back from GM on my petition saying to reset my UI to the basic one, and if that doesn't fix it, to send off a bug report.

Well, resetting my ui fixed nothing, so sent off a second petition requesting resetting my skill points again. Haven't heard back yet, but just sent it off.

Right now, all I can recommend to folks is if you experience some type of glitch in eq where things aren't running properly, don't tradeskill! Be sure to log out to windows and back before hitting that combine button.

And thanks for the advice Morgana. Besides the in-game petition, will also send an email to soe.

Just an fyi, any time you bring up your map and it's totally blank (and you actually had a map in that zone before )...CAMP.
I don't do anything anymore when the map shows up blank, b/c I know I'm either gonna lose stuff or I'm gonna CTD on zoning.

Eh, I don't think that would have made a very convincing arguement to a GM, since, well, 7th Shawl doesn't require any smithing

8th Shawl is actually the smithed part, and it can be MQ'd.

It might help if you had a magelo premium profile - the one that is linked automatically to your actual eq in game profile and has a stamp to say you didn't tweak it by hand.

It might help, probably won't, but its one of the main reasons why I keep my Magelo subscription so that I have some form of third party evidence to back me up if the same thing happened to me. Of course if you did have a magelo then I'm sure you would have mentioned it so I'm really only posting this to help forewarn others who might face the same predicament.

I really am sorry to hear this happened to you, the thought of something like that happening scares the willies out of the rest of us.

Probably not a good idea, since technically, magelo is breaking the EULA as it is pulling your character info out of EQ.

Ahhahahahahaha! Funny since when Prexus had a series of rollbacks a year or two ago my friend lost all his gear and was reset to level 1 and this happened (as best my rusty memory can recall):

Friend: "/petition As a result of the recent rollback, I have lost all my items that I was wearing, holding, or had saved in the bank. I also went from level 58 to level 1. None of my other characters were hit by this. I'm requesting an investigation and a reset of my character please."
GM (45 min later): "Greetings Friend, GM/Guide Fixitmakeitbetter here. We can restore your character, but it will be a two month old restore." {[insert note that he had dinged 51-58 and a few AA's all in that space of 2 months}
Friend: "Is there any way you can restore what I had like a week ago? I leveled from around 51-58 in teh past two months, as well as several AA's and some recent gear upgrades"
GM: "Let me check with people higher up on that and get back to you."
{10 min later}GM: "Greetings Friend, GM Allpowerful here...."
...
...
GM Allpowerful: "Do you have a Premium Magelo account that we could look at?" {he doesn't}


Ending deal was he was restored, and gave up the gear upgrades for his levels and AA's back. Took him all of a month before he ot an even better upgrade
