Honestly, this is a little ridiculous. I thought they'd gotten over this dance of patch, patch to fix the patch, patch to fix the fix and so on. I'm having flashbacks to the Luclin debut - anyone else remember that? I think they had the servers down almost every day for three weeks.

Nononono!! this is great! My guild's been getting a chance to practice on raid mobs, rockhoppers are always up and the vendor diving!!!

Although my trader is filling up pretty fast... Maybe I'll have to make another... but it's okay.

For a -basic- feel for my opinion check out the post I made to the July 15th patch message, currently in OOC area. PLEASE do not reply to that as it will get the thread booted and possibly locked.

On an unrelated note, Doom3 went gold today. Personally I -loath- PvP and FPS games. And I couldn't say I played Doom, let alone 2, more than perhaps an hour. And that includes trying it out on a Unix box. But I'm sure that more than a few EQ'ers liked Doom.

It's hard to make a statement of boycott when you buy your subscriptions by the year. (just couldn't pass up the Aniversary sale) And when you only want ONE THING from an expansion, but can't live without it. (Mesmerization Mastery. 20 AA points and forced to buy Discord. Worth every penny. Still only 17 AA to go, but class is over in a week and I get a month off.) But I will say this. It will snow in PoFear before I buy EQ-2. And I'm contemplating if I will EVER AGAIN buy a PS-2 game. Sony gets enough money out of me now.

Well, I for one welcome our new patch-bringing overlords. I just don't have enough plat to merchant mine all the stuff I'm finding: had to pass up about a dozen blue diamonds but I'm stocking up on velium, tainted planar essence and I even found some Kunark class armour I can resell on my merchant for a nice little profit. Happy, happy, happy!

I'm a little annoyed my traders keep getting booted out of the game due to patches before I manage to sell anything. But the number of blue diamonds and other tradeskill supplies is nice. Can't wait to see what the haul today will be.

Yeah! *gets out pitchfork and torch!* WTF are SoE thinking having a short duration patch in the middle of the night when most of their player base is sleeping to fix some major issues caused by a major overhaul of part of the game engine! I want a persistent world with persistent bugs, no upgrades ever! Nothing changed!

I agree that patches in general are a good thing. I like it when things get fixed. However, when Sony has to repatch and then rerepatch to make things work, I get nervous and irritable.

This IS the Primal Scream Room, and as such is for venting frustration. As my playing time has been curtailed for the past three days because of the continual patching, I am frustrated and I am venting. I know Sony schedules their patch time to affect the fewest number of their paying customers, and it's my bad luck that my available play time starts right about 6am Eastern time, which is when they usually start patching. That doesn't mean I don't have the right to get steamed about it.

It's particularly annoying because I just started playing again after 3 months away from the game.

Imagine if you willl that EQ was down every weekday for anywhere from 1-2 hours. Usually for server/db maintence, not always a patch. Would this still seem as bad?

Or how about the way the servers are almost constantly down for a patch the days after a major expansion?

It's irritiating when it hits you. And although this is the Primal Scram Room, remember, Sony-bashing and other sorts of misbehaviour are strongly frowned upon.

It's okay to say it's frustrating, or to mention that you don't think it is good business, etc. Just leave it at that.
