A warning for those who blind transfer between alts.

A word of warning if its not already known, on the Test server at least, set your bags down, the items inside go poof.

I have an alt I use for tradeskills (who doesn't), I don't know if its something new or a bug. Yes I bugged it already, I tend to usually find a little used area and blind xfer the items I need to give to my kitling for her to build up tailoring.

At least it wasn't too bad, one hand made backpack worth of silk swatches. Since I'm not a rich kitty, I have to do it the hard way, mindless slaughtering of spiders. About two days or two weeks worth at least by guesstimating for collecting off and on when I've found some zones empty and was able to farm with my main.

Ah well, live and learn.

Just to verify,

1) Your main put the Handmade backpack full of swatches down.
2) You logged to your alt.
3) Alt picked up the backpack, which was still present.
4) You opened the bag, and it was empty?

Weird.

Yes.. After being burned on the regular servers, I've gotten into the habit of blind transfering between alts. There are about three areas I know of that I have honestly never seen people go up to. Many I guess don't believe that you can. For me it was accidental that I was able to get there at all.

This occured after the latest patch or when the test server did an emergency patch last week. Someone else on the tradeskills channel (sorry, I know it began with an Adalyne or something similar.) warned us, I wish I hadn't forgotten that warning when I tried to do the blind xfer this evening.

I'm just hoping its just a fluke from the patch and will be fixed. Not a way to curb blind transfering.

I wander if this has screwed blind transfering using fixed containers such as brew barrels, kilns, etc as well?

Oh I hope this was a fluke. I blind transfer stuff like this all the time...

Let us know what you see, please, if anything changes or there is an official word on test.

This is troublesome. I'm not as concerned about the blind transfer as I am about what would happen if you accidently dropped a bag. Passing a bag to a friend and he forgets to clear up a space and the bag automatically drops to the ground after clicking trade, do you lose everything in the bag even then? /cringe

Been like this on Test for about 2 weeks now. The tradeskill channel went insane when it first happened, but I heard you mention it last night =(

I do the same transfers myself as I only have 1 account and PC. I rarely drop a bag though, I prefer to drop each item seperate, no idea why. I can confirm this still works.

However, dropping ANY bag on the ground with ANYTHING causes that bag to become empty. The sole exception so far I've seen is the ones summoned by mages with Bandoleer.

Question: if you drop it and pick it *right back up* are the contents gone - or is there some slight delay, as would acount for switching characters?

If that is the case, and the items inside disappear immediately, that is ONE MAJOR BUG.

Instantly. I bought a backpack, tossed a few rations and water (not my precious baked stuff!) in it, made sure something was in each slot just in case it only affects a few slots, dropped it, picked it right back up...empty.

Add that to the slow death crashes we've been having and Test is a bit more interesting than normal =p

They will seriously have to fix this, with the crappy way their trade system works. Pass someone with 2 open slots 2 bags and a ration, and depending on what order they are in the window, it will either put the ration in their open contrainer slot, a bag in their hand and a bag on the floor, or 2 bags in the right spot and a ration inside an empty bag. This is a customer service nightmare waiting to happen. It will NOT go live, and if it does it wont last 24 hours. Think back to the guy who lost his epic looting his corpse. Pretty quickly fixed.

Never say anything of the sort that it will not go live. It probably will go live. It may not be changed either, it may stay live like that.

It is really irritating when people start saying "Don't worry, it won't go live"

Remember the trivial changes on ethereal smithing and tailoring stuff? Several people said it wouldn't go live. Guess what, it went live. And I still have 2 bags full of ethereal bricks. And its not my fault I have them. I knew when the next patch was, and the vendor was taken down because of pricing issues with the tempers.

Personally, I got fed up with smithing after another hell level. Stuck at 214, and not in the mood of doing 12 hours of farming with no skillups to show for it. Maybe in a few weeks I will try again, but for now its on hold.
