  • Looks like I won't be making my Fan Faire Debut.

Sony had narrowed down the choices for Octobers Fan Faire to either Orlando or New Orleans, and today they finally announced that It's New Orleans, around Halloween time. Being as I live within acceptable driving distance of Orlando, I'm a sad panda.

    Very very sad.

    Maybe next time.

    doh.

altho that would be highly amusing to meet Noish at an FF.

once again I too am out of the question : P teachers don't always take kindly to a missed class day, not to mention transport is a tad out of reach.

have fun, all you who do go.

No misery here, I can actually make one! NO is driving distance, I just hope I can fit it around classes.

I...might...be able to make this one. Gotta see how the finances work out. Cross your fingers for some great deals on airfare to New Orleans.

Here I live outside of NO, but work will surely prevent me from going. Oh well.

Well, the massive car repair bill I'll be paying today has sealed the deal. No New Orleans for me.

Anyone have any plans to go yet?

Have they ever had a fan faire in the UK?

I remember the one in Paris, but that's, like, a totally different country, dude.

I'd love one in Orlando (cheap airfares from almost everywhere) or, better yet, Toronto. No way I'm going to be able to head off to New Orleans this October. Bum, bum, bummer!

I think the NO FF was sort of a response to a plea for EQ players who live in the immediate Louisiana/Texas/Mississippi area.

New Orleans is an easy to reach location from most of the lower/Southern states. Heck, it was even mentioned in a song by the Greatful Dead (Houston, too close to New Orleans...) and it has excellent convention and hotel facilities. And it's a heck of a place to visit in its own right. I've spent many a pleasant day there.

For those going, be sure to visit the Cafe Du Mont for bingets and a cafe au-lait, enjoy a dinner out with red beans and rice as a side dish, a walk through the French Quarter or a visit to Tulane University's beautiful campus. For the exceptionally brave, there's always Burbon Street in the evening hours, with drinking and parties until all hours of the morning. For the necormancers, the graveyards are fantastic places with massive mosoleums and incredible sculpture.

No, I can't imagine that Sony wouldn't want to hold a Fan Faire in one of North America's most interesting tourist cities...

Not to mention the signigicant numbers of artists, writers, musicians, etc. that make New Orleans their home.

Yes, cumon down here now all you foreigners from other nation-states!

Logistically speaking, New Orleans is also the good place because I-10 runs the entire length of the southern country, and with connecting interstates, it's not hard to get here. If you do come by, stop by Baton Rouge and say hi to me, I'll buy you the best steak dinner you've ever eaten, or seafood if you prefer

You're talking to someone who has driven the entire length of I-10 for pleasure. And I've eaten a lot of really great steak dinners, one of the finest being in New Orleans (those people love their food, and it shows!). But I might just take you up on that some day really soon now...

As much as I've always wanted to see new orleans, I am also sad, since I live (now) in the orlando area.... Or should I say, that place near Disney.
