    to loot no-drop tradeskill items!

Working on the Shawl quests and I'm at the thread collection part so I get into a group in Velk's doing spiders. I aske the group if i can have the thread drops and everyone says 'Sure but you can't have anything else'. I'm ok with that. The Shaman in the group asks what they are for and I tell him in general terms about the Blessed Shawl, the tradeskill parts, the final "walk" etc.

Next spider drops some threads and he loots them.

/tell Shaman Are you doing the quest also?
    /reply I might

I'm sorry, but if you have to ask what they are for and you have any notion of the work involved in skilling up the required tradeskills, you either ARE doing the quest or you've decided NOT to do the quest! There really is no in-between!

If you are doing the quest I have no problem sharing the drops. If the drops were tradable and you wanted to sell them I would have some problem sharing the drops but would (reluctantly). I am NOT willing to share with someone who "might" do a long and difficult quest someday!

Oh, he also wanted me to twitch him so he didn't have to canni, but that's a rant for another day.

This is how I'd handle the twitch request:

Shaman- can you twitch me? (I wouldn't be surprised if there were a 'plz' here)
    Me- I might

Hopefully he'd realize that he's not getting twitched until I get to loot some threads. I've had similar problems with people looting non-tradeskill quest items, the worst being a high elf looting an item for a Cabilis quest. When he admitted he hadn't done any Cabilis faction work, but he 'might', the group leader sided with me and booted him.

The group had already agreed you could loot all threads and thus also were excluded from any other drops, so by looting threads (which he might not even use) he was breaking that agreement. I would have brought it up in the group, rather than just a private tell to the shaman.

And a shaman asking a necro to twitch him?! What's up with that?

I hope you put him on your DNG (do not group) list.
