ezboard's very bestest features are "Mark ALL forums read" and "Mark forum read", I miss them already.

From the main board page at the bottom on the left there is a "Mark All Forums Read" option. In each individual forum on the right above the topics there is a "Mark all Topics Read" option.

If you select to mark the topics in a forum read it then takes you to a page suggesting a link to go back to the forum, which I find a little odd, but at the top left there's a link you can use to get back to the list of forums. I think that's going to be my new style

The format of these forums are nice. Not really anything to complain about, unless you paying the costs. Even then, they are still nice.

And the cool thing, on the new boards, we cant be {complained} at for not using the search button for awhile. /cheer

Ok, next question, where's the "Hide read topics" option?

Hehe *hugs* I've had some extra time to learn where everything is!

I didn't use that EZ Board option so I don't know exactly how it worked but from the main list of forums on the top right there's the following three: "View posts since last visit", "View your posts", "View unanswered posts". Maybe "View posts since last visit" will accomplish essentially the same thing?

There is mark all posts read.

What I find annoying is that it doesn't bring you up a level, it takes you right back to the same forum.

It helps if you've used a phpBB board before too (I used to post at length on the MT boatds).
"You mustn't do that, it's Evil!"
"Then how do I save the world?"
                "Courage! Honor! Faith! Nobility!"
"But I haven't GOT any of those!"

Here I was about to complain about the lack of a mark forum read feature, and I see this thread. Glad I read it before I posted. That and the lack of html is my only complaints, and I can make do without html.

Fast load times, nice colors, less cost. What is there to complain about? Other than having to signup for another board, which imo isn't really a big problem.

No, "View posts since last visit" doesn't do it, that basically removes the forums and dumps all the threads into one flat list, sorted by last post. Useful to someone who reads everything, but I doubt very many people read each and every one of the server marketplace forums... There's also no way to mark read from that screen, so even when I'm coming back an hour after my last visit and it might be useful, I can't really use it or I'll be reading all those threads again on my next visit.

dunno I really am liking the load times on these boards compared to ezboard. the only thing that sucks is the lack of archive but in time that will be restored and will be better off. Signing up for another account isn't that big of a deal really.

I've been going over this board for the last hour now, and I noticed that the board automatically marks the forums as read after you view them. Look at the little circles with what looks like a parchment sheet in it. If you've viewed the post and no new replies have been added, that page will be white. However, if that thread has been added to, the parchment will be brown. Nifty little feature, no longer have to hit the button.

It's a nice feature, but be aware that phpBB marks things as "new" or "read" by a timestamp on your cookie as well. So if you visit the board but don't read everything, the next time you come back all those things that you didn't read will be marked as "read". That's my only phpBB rant, otherwise it's a great system (vBulletin does the same, by the way).

Yup, I'm a control-freak as well, I want to personally set which topics I have read and which not, I don't want to have a computer determine that for me. More often than not, it bugs on me ... I've seen it on the Cleric forums, same thing happens. If that "automatic mark as read" feature could be kicked, I'm happy.

Ohh, and when I do actively mark all topics as read, being returned one level up instead of being returned to the same level, would be a boon too! (I mean, having read all those topics so I mark 'em as such ... what else do I want to do there?!?)

Also, if I had anything to say in it, I would like it that they removed the "redirection" screens. They're only annoying, imho, and serve no real purpose.

                              Otherwise, the site looks cool.

(Oh, and swap the Preview and Submit buttons! I keep hitting the Preview one, since Submit used to be there on the EZboard forum).

Edit: One final gripe, I'd prefer to have no icon at all when no new posts are around, instead of a white icon. Makes it much easier to spot the topics with new posts.
