  • Fungoid sap at 20k???!

Seru would be a fun encounter. It isn't necessary for our guild, but would be a nice change.

I figure, as I work up my smithing and as my small guild of about 140 get their Vex Thal Keys, I can sell the idea of saving the fungoid sap, shik'nik ikor, shissar blood, yttrium bricks, and meteor dust from the shard camps.

When I hit GM or close.. guild, I can make the difficult sheets for weapons for us to kill Seru! They know me well, asking to hold onto this or that for tradeskills. I am "the active tradeskiller" forever.

Well, seems like a reasonable idea right? By the time 140 people have their VT keys, I will have enough stuff for temper and sheets to equip maybe 10 melee with bane weapon combine materials. NOPE! I got a grand total of 4 FUNGOID SAPS. This was enough to make 2 sheets of yttrium steel. (4 tries, yes we are in VT now and I have those awesome gloves!! GM smith now)

Well, that's ok. I have friends who felt like playing their alts and a few warriors who really want weapons. We farm. Slowly, but one a night... that is maybe half a weapon in a perfect no fail world. I can almost deal with it.

HERE IS THE END TO MY RANT AND THE REASON: In the meantime I look in the bazaar for fungoid sap, never see it. So I do shouts, WTB fungoid sap, I explain where to find it and that people should carry it and farm it. Guess they listened.. or at least one guy did.. He is selling, get this, only one fungoid sap for 20K!!.. wtf? That isnt even half a weapon!! sorry Seru is not a plane of time mob,, gimmie a break! I hope this guy comes down in price!! ugh,

ok back to the cave now. The invisible bridge is fun to cross anyway. I have alts to powerlevel now lol

/shrug, the price of convienence. Go farm it yourself, or better, farm it yourself, and undercut him, on most servers I would imagine it could be fairly profitable, Seru may not be a time encounter, but his breastplate is better than anything you find in the EPs, and that is just one of his many awesome drops.

As a side note, save yourself some time and money and only make one weapon for the seru encounter, a 2h type. As a rule they are higher DPS anyhow (when comparing to other seru bane weapons.)
    Lickity

*GasP* 300 is my new target!!

When I was farming the deep for saps, I'd have gladly paid 10k per sap. 20k is stretching it, especially with my luck on the sheets. But they are fairly rare, crappy exp, and just a boring camp. Supply and demand. Bet the guy sells it too.

Hehe I have been collecting stuff for the Seru bane for long months for my old guild and at the end we killed Seru without a single bane weapon.

You can kill him just fine if you have some casters and a warrior with procing weapons. I think our warrior used a Veeshan's Peak wep and a SoD while tanking though not sure (some pretty outdated weps). Probably doable with any weapon these days now that you can buy anger 3 augment in LDoN.

Seru is NOT a hard fight, just a long fight. He only hits for like 700 (I, as a ranger, have tanked worse). The hard part of the fight isnt the fight itsself, but getting someone keyed (preferably 2 people so you wont have 5 people dealing with port-in mobs).
Most classes can damage Seru without bane, just not as efficently as they are used to. Just have your rogues monks and non-tank warriors deal with adds and have em bandage people who need it.

If you feel you must get bane weapons for your guild, get the rogues first. (Too bad you cant backstab with a 2-handed peircer! That would HURT!)

The point of getting bane weapons is it makes the fight much much much shorter, and in a lower end raiding guild where you don't have 10-15 clerics that show up regularly with FT15 and 6k mana pools, that's a very important thing.

If your guild wants to do seru, just make it a focus to get enough people out there to clear all the shrooms (one dps 65 group can keep both caves clear) for 3-4 hours at a time every day for a week and you'll come out with 5-10 people equipped with bane weapons, and can shorten the fight by a solid 10-15 minutes as opposed to no one with bane.

That isn't too much effort, and it should be a guild effort. I know way too many people (myself included) that put way too much time in personally trying to equip people that for the most part refused to even try and help, but would **** sure be asking for loot if you kill seru.

You don't mention your server so I don't know if you already have, but it might also be worth your while to post on your server's forum on the board here, as well as the general board for your server, if it has one. I'd be surprised if there aren't some raiders out there who gathered the sap but never needed it and would be willing to sell rather than leave it lying around in their banks. Then, of course, you just need to negotiate a more palatable price...

You can single group it. It's not particularily great exp, since you are probably all 65s. The sap drops near the typical shard camp (shard camp: across the rift and the south most passage to the west, sap camp, passage near the fake bridge).

20kpp sounds about right. No one wants to farm it. No one who farms it wants to sell it. How much do you have to pay someone to do an unpleasant task? When I was one of the first >200 skill brewers on my server, I was asked to brew a lot of the tempers. I posted that it was trivial to me, and my skill was 228 at the time, therefore everyone misread that to mean that the trivial is 228. Duh, that's like having a tailoring skill of 233 and finding that tattered tunics are trivial. Is their triv 233 or lower? And I would get into arguments with people claiming that they had brewed it. Ah, but no one was willing to risk this annoying stuff on a lower skill brewer. I appologize for derailing your rant.

I took a bunch of alts there there the other night and had a blast.

                      65 sk

We did fine, got a sap.. now with what people got passing by to do the shard camps and one bazaar purchase this morning for 5k of a sap, we are the proud owners of two bane weapons in the guild. I had a 50 percent success rate on the sheets.

We most definately have a small raid force yes.

I went to farm saps a few months back, with myself (65 cleric) and my other self (65 warrior). I had no problems outside of a lag spike or two, and collected 8 saps in around 2 hours... Would have stayed longer but something (can't remember what, only that something) dragged me away. Just cross the invisible bridge, run to the left till you see a mushroom, and start killing.

The success rate is pretty horrid... I think I am around 18 for 20 on the temper and around 15 for 30 on the sheets.

That was a lucky run there. I had two runs like that myself on collecting a lot in a short time period. However, I spent an average of 1.5 hours per sap with a full group clearing everything over something like 28 hours there. So don't be suprised with a couple hours of nothing.

Is a nice place to work on leader exp and get some alts of friends some levels though.
