  • Gnomish Happy Dance - Shawl 5

So, someone whose name starts with Kiz really hates going to Velks and at the time that he transfers back from Stormhammer is perfectly aware of the fact that I /will/ be doing Shawls and therefore will need to live in Velks for a time. In spite of the constant (and sometimes well-deserved) gritching, I got my 75 Threads, and there was much rejoicing.

There was also a very amusing train where Tink got squished by a good twelve spiders. I wished I could have screenshotted that, but I died too fast. : P

So I logged in today, too late to do anything with the normal people, and no one in guild had a spot, so I runnoft to GD with three biles in the bank. (One I got from my own kill, at level 34 when I could first group with Phabos; one I got from an /ooc that it had dropped and I looted with three seconds on timer; one I got yesterday while waiting for another groupmember to catch up to us as we went to PoM.)

    I killed two wurms.

    They both had biles.

    *Happy Dance*

So I debated whether or not to do the other combines. I mean, my luck might continue, or that might have been all.

Shilling said I should just go do it already. Kiz said to go do it so he'd know if he had to go back to Velks anymore. So I went and got my bile soaker and my geerlok to make my skill 162, and started combining.

La la la la la la la la!!!

Everything succeeded! I am now the proud ownah of da Silk Coldain Prayer Shawl !!!!

And yes, it replaced my previous shoulders.
    Which was the Fur-lined Shawl.

    : pppppp

            Grats Sanna !

I'm stuck on trying to get shawl four just now - and out of EQ until I can get a new PC up and running (finally - the last of the bits are on their way ) - but i'm not looking forward to the farming for 5 - on the other hand - I've never been in Velks before - somewhere new to die in

First off, HUGE congratulations! *gnomish happy dance*

I am working on the 5th shawl myself. I'd gotten all my threads after plenty of harrowing time hunting in Velks (which I've not liked since the first time I was there in my 40s, slipped off the edge of a ramp and proceeded to uncontrollably fall all the way to the pit of doom and die. Given that I was a wee shadowknight, I didn't have my good corpse summon yet, and had to beg a necro friend to come get me. Ah, the days before graveyards.)

So this past week, I have my 75 threads, and I have something like four biles from killing shardwurms randomly while running back and forth to Velks. I decide to try out the thread combines to make sure I don't need to go back to Velks for more threads. OF COURSE, I failed one of the thread combines

I had two extra threads, so I reasoned I'd only need to kill one spider that had threads on him, so I ran down to Velks (conveniently crashing to desktop twice on the way there.) Once I'm there, I'm running around invis looking for crystal spiders to kill that aren't camped, and all of a sudden I slid through a wall. Ok, I'm a dork and I didn't know there was a big area behind the main walls. Like I said, I don't like Velks, and so I pretty much stick to areas I know. Right as I'm thinking "this sucks" I crash to desktop again. Yay SoE. So, I log back in afterward, and I'm not naked, so I'm happy. However, when I get in game, I'm not anywhere near where I crashed out. And to make matters worse, I'm stuck to the floor! I'm ducking and trying to run, and sitting and all kinds of stuff, but can't move. Finally I take a jump and voila! I'm free. But I'm sliding toward the edge of the ramp. Luckily I stopped right before I fell, because I looked down and yes, I was right above the pit of doom.

Actually using my brain, I hit backspace and brought up my map and managed, sweating with fear, to get myself back into known territory. I'm heading for the exit because at this point, I'm thinking I'm done for the day, when I slide off the edge of a ramp and fall to the bottom. Happily, I landed right by an uncamped crystal spider. So, I started killing it, but I was sorta unprepared, so I had it down to like a bubble and a half, and I was just above 2 bubbles of hp, when of course, I crashed to desktop again.

I logged back in, crossed my fingers, and wasn't naked at character select, yay! And the best part is, when I got all the way back in, I only had 600 hp left, but the spider was lying dead in front of me, and when I looted it, it had four threads on it!

So I did my thread combine, and succeeded, and combined the biles I had with the swatches, and have four bile-soaked swatches in the bank, and three swatches waiting for a bile. I have been hunting for that last bile now for five days straight, a few hours a day, and I don't have it. You've been wondering all along why I'm telling this really really long story in this thread. The biggest reason is because I wanted to express my joy at your success, the next biggest reason is because I have been wanting to rant about my harrowing day on velious since it happened, and the smallest reason why is to say:

                          I'm green with jealousy!!!

Hopefully tonight will be the night I will get my last bile, and then hopefully I'll be successful on the shawl combine, because if not, I swear I will cry. I do not want to farm this stuff again!
