  • Small 'hmmm' about GoD refining

So we went on a Ferubi raid the other day. So I was one of the looters. So I picked up 8 (count 'em) Taelosian Tea Leaves (this took at least 2 hours). So I finally succumb and look up how all this GoD stuff works.

I can hand these 8 hard-won tea leaves to an NPC, and get 16 usuable things back.

    - or -

I can do FOUR HUNDRED combines and hand them in UNSTACKED to gain the ability to do this conversion myself, at which point I can convert my 8 hard-won tea leaves into... 12 usuable things. Maybe.

Oh, and there's a vague promise that as I continue to convert tea leaves myself, I might get better at converting. *Maybe*, if I find enough tea leaves, I might eventually get... as good as the NPC!

Given how rare these things seem to be, why would I bother doing the FOUR HUNDRED combines and handing them in UNSTACKED myself, when I can immediately get a better result from the NPC?

Well, with the current bug, it seems you're likely to get more around 20 with doing it yourself.

You'll definately wind up with a conversion rate better than that of handing them to the NPC, by the time all's said and done.

In fact, that's actually got a small bug right now. Somehow, Absor managed to create a bug where it gives you an extra, free piece of refined product per combine .

At any rate, that should be fixed in the next live-server update and the conversion rate will be working normally...

Awwww, and here I thought I'd finally worked my refining up to the 3-per-combine-once-in-a-while level....

While we're on a roll with fixing bugs, please take a look at the Bazaar sales-log feature. These are the logs stored in the main EQ folder that should look something like "bzrlog_fenninro_Grimwood.txt". The March 23 patch broke mine. Thanks kindly :-).

Did you look for it in the log subdirectory? That is where I found mine.

Wow, thanks Turlo :-). I am sooo used to patches breaking more than they fix that I never guessed the sucker might have just started writing to a different directory. My log takes up right where the old one left off before it started playing hide 'n seek.

The move of the log location wasn't mentioned in the patch message Really bugged me for a few days until I read on some board that logs had just been moved, not disabled.
