I suspect this will be a bit like the berserker epic. If I remember right, there were some steps in it that you had to do solo; other people couldn't help you kill those targets or some such.

Hmm... I'm not getting to excited about the Epic2.0 stuff. (well, yes I am but I keep trying to calm myself)

They clearly state that each 2.0 will require solo, group and RAID efforts to complete. They further expand that these quests are targeted "at players at the upper level ranges" ... I doubt they mean "you have to be over level 51 like the Epic weapon" but fear they mean "you should be EP or Time guilded to consider this possible."

I'll be greatly both pleased and surprised if it's possible for level 65+ people to solo/one-group their way thru the quests. But I'm not making plans to hold the Epic2.0 any day sooner than getting flagged for time. (Since I'm currently not in a guild and play intermittantly and hate raiding I've got my fingers crossed for a "level replaces flag requirements" patch about 6 months after EQ2 goes live.)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

I wouldn't get your panties in a bunch...when epic 1.0's came out, they required raid encounters - all of them - with uber lvl 50's and 50+'s....

'Cept the web page specifically states that there will be solo versions of Epic2.0 and the images of the currently shown epics all have the solo tag. ie. EW_2.0_DRUID_solo.jpg

"You have to kill pessamists but optomists kill themselves."

As pointed out elsewhere in this thread when Kunark came out it took BIG raids to finish the Epic's. (i.e. the Head of the Prince from Chardok was LOTS harder back in 2000 then when I did it in 2003)

I'm not puting too much faith into the names of the art files. That could just as well refer to the way the files are released (one at a time) as the method of obtaining them. (solo enchanter ... sounds great lemme brush up on my charm solo'ing ... oh, wait...)

Put it this way. I'm not flagged for TACTICS and haven't bought Gates yet. I'll wager I'm not going to be one of the first 10 on my server with Epic2.0

The beastlord one is sortof like that as well -- the final fight the only melee that will hit is that of the beastlord, though nukes will hit. I believe the intent is to prevent twinking the epics, since you have to be capable of soloing one fight. I expect a similar setup for epic 2.0 as well.

As far as the file names go, "solo" could just mean that the image is only that epic, rather than a montage, or being wielded or something.

How will that stop twinking? I'd put odds on any of my twinks over someone who was working their main up from scratch.

Oh, really? Don't you have a cleric exactly Nhinx's level? Care to modify that statement to encompass the truth?

                          *slight derail*

I saw in a recent patch message that they've improved the sitting down regen (another boost for soloers). I'm out of the game until I can build a new PC - which may be a while - so can anyone tell me what the changes have been made ?

Malathos, the main regen/downtime changes are:
Regen scales more smoothly with level.
Sitting regen (as long as there are no dots on you) increase in a linear manner for every minure you sit down (eg. 4hp/tick first minute, 8/tick the second, 12/tick the third)
Bind wounds goes to 70% for everyone.
You can bind wounds sitting down.

It is still slow... but it is faster than it was.

plus, you can bandage WHILE sitting, and bandage to 70% before any AA improvements.
