        An Interesting Trick

Here's something I tried, just to see how well it worked. Pick a vendor in a high-traffic location. Odds are good that vendor has a big pile of junk in stock after a while without a reset. Shop the vendor for anything that stacks and costs less than a gold piece. Ruined pelts, rat whiskers, anything at all. Buy it all, and vaporize it. The merchant has some open slots now. Lurk nearby until someone (or several someones) take advantage of the merchant's services. Then check again.

If you're really lucky, you can clean out ten or twelve slots on a vendor for less than 5 plat, and get a shot at some good stuff when people sell off. I got some blue diamonds like this, and various foodstuffs. The PoK merchants around the "Brew 'n' Stew" (that's the place with the barrels and ovens) or the folks around the pool in Shadow Haven are very good for this, since they get sold a lot of junk, but also lots of good stuff.

You should also check vendors in out of the way places.. where not too many people would think to go.

Back in the day, i used to always find BDs and Coterie General armor on one vendor in the evil section of Echo Caverns, back behind the sliding fake wall.
Try the old major cities like Shadowhaven, Freeport, Thurgadin, Qeynos, Surefall, Halas, Cabilis...

Any vendors near Wiz/Dru portals. Gunthak is also good to check.

Well, my server came down last night while I was afk for a min.

I was able to go do some vendor diving after I was able to get back in. I got a few good finds to throw on my trader. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play tonight as I have to go to my second job, so I will miss out on some really good vendor mining opportunities = (

                  Merchant Mining Changed?

I thought I would ask here as some of you seem to do it alot. Has something changed in the last couple of months with the merchants? Let me explain:

Before when I would buy from a merchant and there were empty slots and you clicked done and re-opened the merchant, if he had more inventory then slots, them slots would now be full and you could keep doing that until he finally has less inventory then slots.

Now, however, when I empty a few slots and re-open him, them slots are still empty unless someone sells him something while i have him open and they appear in the first empty slot.

What is happening with the vendors stuff when he has his slots filled?

Has anyone else noticed this or am i crazy?

                  Thanks.

this is what they 'nerfed' two or three months ago. It really sucks for those of us who loooooove to VM.

Now, it's 'what you see is what you get'. The merchant only has as many slots as you see. If you sell beyond that.... poof. byebye.

                    /sad.

                      is it really poofing

If you sell beyond that.... poof. byebye.
when the merchant fills up his inventory slots, is anything else you sell him really poofing?

or does it go to another merchant?

the reason I ask this is because I see stuff on merchants that you just have to ask, why would someone come all the way here to sell this? merchants in weird or out of the way places. like some of the pok library guys or some of the shadowhaven merchants in some of the builldings way out of the way from zone ins or guild buildings.

hehehhehehehhehehe. i've asked myself that a lot too. The only thing I can think of is that they went to that merchant for whatever that merchant is specifically for, then found they had junk to unload.

no, I really don't think that 'extra stock' 'falls over' from one vendor to another.
