I think if you offered it in a different way he might have been more amenable. Pperhaps if you offered to buy the armor from him but pay him partially in supplies, it would seem less like he was doing your combine for you.

These type of situations are exactly why I have a policy to talk as little as possible to my customers. In fact I'm almost always 'asleep in trader mode'. I dread running to restock since a potential customer might catch me obviously at the keyboard. Sometimes I've had to wait until they buy and move out of sight so I could dash for the bank. No no no, go away, shoo, I don't want to talk to you, that only leads to misunderstandings, trading problems and hard feelings.

But yeah, redirecting inquiries to your main and then not taking them well is poor business - or poor marketing since it sends mixed signals. I can understand him not wanting to do combines, but going off on someone who's expressing an interest in your wares is.. not how I'd handle it. I don't make myself out to be a flexible great master trader, I don't offer home delievered personal service, I don't like to do combines unless I know you well enough to know your home address, I don't like to haggle, and I make sure my afk messages communicate that. I haven't heard a lot of complaints. It's consistent and while it may be impersonal, it's straight forward WYSIWYG sort of deal.

Every tradeskiller will deal with this at one point. I've dealt with it often.

Personally, I don't like to haggle, because in the end I almost always loose out. I don't do combines for strangers, just good friends and guildmates.

People looking for me to click "combine" are usually looking to get something vastly cheaper than I would charge if I made the item. I understand that they have done the leg-work, gathered the rare materials, etc., but I see no need to "give away" my efforts. If someone asks me to do a combine, and I feel so inclined, I simply dicount the raw materials cost from my normal asking price and they pay me that for a success. Should I fail, they pay me nothing.

And I never redirect people from my mule to my main.

On the other hand, Jaroo, him I know. I'd help him if it was something I could do.
