Most odds posted in casinos are payout out odds not your odds on winning. Big difference saying you win 35 for 1 on a single number bet in roulette then telling the folks they have a 1 in 38 chance to win.

I donated 2k and got my mask of the deciever on my 6th turn in with the golden ticket I got.

And for the person that said he was glad there was no upgrade in the bazaar for 100k he spent. IF the upgrade was there would still have gambled the 100k away. If so then who would you have been mad at yourself or Sony for putting something into the game YOU decided to play instead of getting your upgrade since NO ONE twisted your arm to go into their casino and play.
    aRGH!!

READ MY SIG! .... Then.... READ IT ... AGAIN!!!

I messed up the craps odds. Yes hard 10 is 7:1 payout not 30:1 I was a long, long, ... long.... long, long ... LONG way from my last session of craps. Prior to the release of EQ long. I was thinking of the "one roll" boxcars (2 6's) payout, rather than the "they will roll double 5's before craps or another 10 point or their own point" which is the "hard 10" odds bet.

We've had threads closed before for getting too detailed about real world gambling so let's not get MIRED DOWN in gritty details SHALL WE HMM??!!??

Yes there is a difference between "payout odds" and "likelyhood odds" ... it's called "profit margin." If the payout odds say "we pay 5000:1 if this happens" it takes an IQ of about 5 to realize that -this-happens- significantly less than 1:5000 (the drinks aren't free because the casino is a charitable institution with plans to give away money) now doesn't it?

I believe that the Draggar, Kristin, Lilosh and myself were discussing the fact that in REAL casinos it's possible, with a little actual MATH to figure out what the odds are and compare them to the "payout odds" and see if the "GAMBLE" is worthwhile. Not so much in the EQ Casino apprently.

I'm presuming that you MEANT to say

IF the upgrade was there would ++YOU++ still have gambled the 100k away. ++??++

    Rather than

IF the upgrade was there would still have gambled the 100k away.

Since the first asks a question and the second tells someone else what they would have done.

No one's forcing anyone to play King's Court. I personally had NO INTENTION of playing King's Court as when I play casino games in real life it's for fun, not for a chance to beat the odds.

Rule 1: The house always wins.
    Rule 2: See rule 1.
Rule 3: If for some reason the house loses, they are mearly letting you hold the money for a while.

It mearly would be nice if rather than having total opacity to the "game" of King's Court (Put money in, *ding* you win/lose) there were a more "transparent" part. Like a payout schedule or some visual display. (Even the slot jockeys get to see the wheels spin... the wheels are controlled by a computer chip, the roll is actually OVER before the wheels move, but it gives the marks a way to pass the time as they grind their nickel's into the casino's coffers.)

    1:10,000 manastone
    1:8,000 guise of deciever
    1:600 insert other item here
    1:4 Misty Thicket Picnic

Gosh that would be SOOO hard... And then people could think "well if they say 1:10,000 and I put up 10kpp for 100 chances I've got a 1:10 chance of getting a manastone" and determine if it's worth the risk.

(It's probably a BAD IDEA for there to be any "delay" from handing in the token to the handing over of the reward.)

Itek: Here's my token, spin the wheel o destiny Bob.
Bob: Ok, round and round it goes... where it
    **You have been disconnected**

As someone else said. "Gambling is a tax on people that are bad at math."
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

Does it matter "what would be if"? I'm not pissed and I'm not even close to being broke, just saying that the casino in this current form is not fun for me

        If this shuts down even a tenth of the /random spammers running casinos in the bazaar, in SH, in PoK, etc., etc., it'll be a happy thing in my book. {grins}

Folks seem to like to gamble and throw away money, and this gives them a slightly more legit method to try, I suppose.

I threw a few thousand platinum their way. It was fun, but no, I didn't get anything at all useful.

I won a Illusion: Human potion. But uh, I am an enchanter.
I won a gnomish firework. But uh, I am a GM tinker. With a trophy.

Some +5 int bread and some +7 int, +10 mana bread, too.

Someone linked a 2-charge, 96% rez, all/all staff (no drop of course). I'm pretty sure they won that from a gold ticket. I've never know something like that to drop as loot. (Supreme Adventurer's ... staff? Something like that.)

The amount I spent won't hurt me though. I'm level 65 with all my vendor and droppable spells, and I'm in a raiding guild so I can upgrade my equipment from high-end zones. I didn't even spent 1/10 of the money I have in the bank.

But it was fun, and kind of exciting, waiting to see if I got something cool. I hope they put it back in.

I dont get it. If you have 100k to throw away, why not give it to those who could use it. Hell, 100k could fund my tradeskills a helluva long way. I'll gladly take any plat you want to gamble with, hell I'll even give you a 2 stacks of MTP's for every thousand plat you give me.

I feedbacked that any 'win' should give you at least your token back.

I played for a few minutes, lost 6k and won a stack of no drop food that I destroyed, and 1 velius gem that sold for 23pp.

Go to any casino, play any game. If you win, you win your bet PLUS the winnings.

With this 'casino' even when you 'win' you lose. this is more akin to the carnival games where you have to toss a 3inch hoop onto a 2&1/2 inch bottletop. Pure chance.

Call it a lottery, because that's what it is, a Casino this is not.

Lol, it would probably open a can of wurms if I posted what I think about that question so lets say "just 'coz", thats the most politically correct answer I have for you

Well, the whole intention behind it is to be a cash sink. Just like a real casino, you can't expect to go and win everytime.

However, the hook behind real casinos is that you can win every so often, even if it is a few bucks back here and there. That's pretty much what this casino is lacking. Las Vegas wouldn't do very well if Casinos either gave back $1 million or a few nickels.

I ended up spending around 40k and I won the ornate bridal speed drogmor. I already had one of the expensive ones, so after I sell my old one back I end up ahead.

The staff used to drop off Vox, long ago. There also used to be a sell/buy thing to recharge the staff for cheap. But it was removed a while back(so dont bother trying if you have one, youll just lose 2 rezs).

As for my opinion on the casinos, I knew(along with most people) that it was just a plat sink put in to remove all the platinum from the macroing thats flooded the economy. I also had a suspision that they wouldnt last long, but I sure as heck didnt expect what happened.

I heard various reports of people spending 100k, 50k, 10k, on just a single servers boards. I did very rough math(math is hard), and it came to atleast a million plat pulled out of the economy in a matter of hours, on just one server.

The prizes though do...suck. The 5int bread was great for my necro, who doesnt have his int maxed, but come on. I dont want to pay 100pp for 1 stinking loaf! Atleast have us win 5 bread or something, its not like its a banquet or even a hearty meal. It last just as long as normal rations.

And now...my brain has left the building, so Im gonna stop typing before I go cross-eyed

P.S. <---just had to put that in there cause I like it.
P.S.S. <--- Just had to put that in there, cause I just figured out its a worm on a book. I thought it was a smiley wearing sneakers, lol.

some people were talking about spending plat to TRY and get a guise of the deceiver. Isnt that NO DROP and ONLY useable by rogues and bards? I would think ANY winning from the casino should
                          A. Be useable by ANY race/class that can win it (if NO DROP)
                          B. Be sellable if not All/All

Why do I want a guise of the deceiver? as a halfling ranger I'd be really angry if I dumped 10k and got that item and couldn't use/sell it. I mean COME ON! If you really want ppl to play the casinos at least make the winnings useable or sellable by the winners!!!

P.S. Put haversacks in the casinos and I break yer kneecaps!!!!!

The guises in the casino table are the ones usable by anyone from inventory. They were removed from the game and the current ones that must be equipped by someone able to wear it are dropped now.

                                What server? Any decent documentation?

On Tunare, the last recorded drop was ~ October 10th, 2002. That's over a year ago. With an organized Naggy & Vox raiding community, they are both routinely killed every time they're up, so that's a LOT of Vox drop table samples without a Staff of Forbidden Rights.

The most recent discussion of it is this thread. Pardon the dust if you go searching around, there have been a lot of rough transitions lately, but the data's still around, just not as easily accessable as before.
