  • King's court...

I should have expected this. Did I really think they would implement something nice?

    OK, so I bought 10 tokens, at 100PP each, that's 1,000PP I spent.

Hand in the 10 tokens, I get 2 kabobs and one vegtable stew, all NoDrop.

Spend 1K, get back something I could have made a stack of each for less then the price of one token.

This, by far, is the biggest plat sink they've ever put in the game.

I guess I'll pass on it until the day I say "I have too much money" (which me being a Rogue I'll probabaly never say, and if I do, I'll donate it to the guild).

Hark! Who is that, prowling along the fields! It is Draggar De'VIr, hands clutching two hardened pitas! He cries gutterally: "In the name of Thor the Mighty, I hereby void your warranty, and send you back to God!!!"

    *nod* It's wargames, son.

"The only winning move is not to play".

But as far as a plat sink, it's brilliant. They have a out of every 100,00 tokens give a non-dropping item, and everybody who looks at the lottery as good chance to make money (*snicker* Including myself, I wasted 5k) instantly pictures themselves winning a mana stone on their first turnin or 6.

It's like a cross between the RNG of Tradeskills, the Real Life lottery, and P.T. Barnum's "There's a Sucker born every minute".

I love it, both for it's excellent plat sink method, the neat new items, and for the fact that so many people are cliaming it 's unfair because they can't brute force their way into Mask of Tinkering with 20k. or 100k.

I love what they've done. <3 <3 <3. (Now, can I have my Guise of the Deciever? Please? I read the script , just like you sent me, Brenlo).

I work in a Real Life Casino. The games there have visible odds.

King's Court? At least show us a game of some type. Or even what our losing hand was.

Would you play a game in the bazaar where the spam read, "100pp bets, /random 32000, 32k wins an obsolete item, or one that was removed for game balance so long ago that currently existing versions are twink-bait."

I saw yesterday somebody picked up a Guise of the Deceiver, after dumping 190k into the game.

Not for me. I personally bought a stack of tokens, 2,000 pp.

I won a single +7 WIS food item, and three +5 WIS food items.

I already have 60 stacks of MTPs in a mule's bank...

Nah, I am done that game.

I sank 1K in tokens (and won some kebabs) and I'm not going near there again until after I've bought all the gear upgrades I want from the Bazaar.

Especially if the bazaar market falls through the floor, like a huge plat sink should make it do.

Gambled away 100k yesterday in two sessions, got nothing but no-drop food and 1 charge illusion potions.

It would have been a good idea if there was at least a good chanse to walk away with some useful utility item as minor price after you sinked 10k+ into it so people would keep on coming back.

I'm glad that there wasn't a buyable upgrade for me in the bazaar for a good while or I would be pissed now

So you have a list of the exact odds on the slot machines?

Because I wouldn't normally think so. Most people , I would imagine, don't care what their odds are when they pull the handle.

                Perhaps they should say;
The games have calculable odds and visible representations of the prizes.

Um... yep they post the odds right on the front of the machine / table. They are required to by law in most cases.

Just because you can't read them don't mean they aren't there.

What's that you say? "No they don't post the odds on a roulette table / blackjack table / slot machine"

                  Yes. They do.

"Dealer must stand on soft 17."
"Dealer must hit soft 17s." (Big, BIG difference.)

                  Number of decks in shoe.
                  0 or 00 on a roulette wheel.
                  Hard 10 pays 30:1. (craps, getting 2 fives, odds 1 in 36)

                  Triple Diamonds pays 5000 bets.
(three wheels, first wheel 2 diamonds, second wheel 3 diamonds, last wheel 1 diamond, 40 wheel positions each. calcuated odds of hitting 3 diamonds... 6 in 64,000 or just over 1:10,000)

Gosh, that was hard to figure out.

Heard a wonderful quote last night on the History Channel.

"Computers were built on a single premise, for a single reason. Math is hard."
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

                    hard 4 or 10 only pays 7 to 1.
                    hard 6 or 8 pay 9 to 1.
Most odds posted in casinos are payout out odds not your odds on winning. Big difference saying you win 35 for 1 on a single number bet in roulette then telling the folks they have a 1 in 38 chance to win.

I donated 2k and got my mask of the deciever on my 6th turn in with the golden ticket I got.

And for the person that said he was glad there was no upgrade in the bazaar for 100k he spent. IF the upgrade was there would still have gambled the 100k away. If so then who would you have been mad at yourself or Sony for putting something into the game YOU decided to play instead of getting your upgrade since NO ONE twisted your arm to go into their casino and play.

You can also win tokens.. I bought a single token (100p)

                        And won 20 tokens. Then I won 5. Then I won 2.

All in all, I won some 7wis 10 mana food (acutally, i Like it, since my baking isnt up to MTP standards yet, and i'm cheap).

Then of course I spent another 100p and won nothing, so.. I think it was ok Stiiil.. you guys have bad luck.

Casinos also advertise about their slots paying (for example) 96%. Which means that if you gamble long enough, you only lose 4% of what you put in. Regulatory agencies in Nevada and NJ set minimum payout standards for slots also (I do not know about other states though).

Word on the street is that one of the casino npcs was accepting batwings instead of 100pp tokens. That before shadowhaven was brought down during the day, there was exactly zero chance of winning a gold ticket. I like to think of gambling as a tax on people who cannot do math.

Let's analyse one typical "casino" that you may have seen in the bazaar... "/ran 100, get above 60 and double your money, get above 95 and triple your money." The odds that you triple your cash = 5% and odds to double your money are 35%. Your expected earnings on a 1pp bet are:
                          -1pp*100% (the bet) + 2pp*35% + 3pp*5%, or
                          -1 + .7 + .15 = -.15pp
In short you can expect to lose 15% on every bet, and the guy running the casino can expect to keep as profit 15pp on every 100pp bet.

Some people won bigtime, there are now at least 2 new Ton Po Staff of Understanding on our server. Not that I can afford the 200k asking price.

I have the best prize ever.

Brains. I have brains enough to not spend a single copper in the casino.

Ive gotten tokens from Dev testing stuff, but i never have and never will spend any plat of my own on this trash.

I got a 57p illusion potion and some junk food i can force-feed myself instead of my valuable foaged vegetables and roots. =)

Oh incidently, after a dev test, a lvl 25 testbuff ranger won a Prismatic Spear off of 5 or 10 tokens. Too bad he cant equip it till 55 and that he probably wont play on Test to see 55.
