  • crashing when combining too fast.

Ever since the last patch when I have stackloads of stuff to combine and do it too fast it crashes me to the server select screen... Then get the 1018 error for a while

It appears to me that Sony have put in some sort of time delay on combines to prevent the macro exploiters. While I agree that these exploiters need to be stopped, it really annoys me that it affects the honest majority's combines.
I can't help it if I can click quickly, I have had a few years practice at it.

    Anyone else having these problems?

    Cheers

I've ran into the same problem. Thought it was just me. Normally happens while fishing and doing other combines.

The last two days (Monday & Tuesday) I have had several "client crashes". The type with a pop up box asking if I want to send this info on to SOE. Moday it happened when I right clicked a vendor in PoK. His merchandise was visable but my computer was locked, then I got the pop up box. After logging back in (which required a full reboot) I proceeded to crash several times while casting a gate spell. Each time when I logged back in I was in the zone I was casting to get to.

My husband looked up on the sonylive website and found a possible solution. He moved a file. "User.dat" I believe. I had no more problems on Monday.

Tuesday I was on all day in trader mode with no problems. I log off to check email, eat dinner, etc. Reboot the computer, start eq do a bit of banking, go to vendor in PoK crash as soon as the merchandise window opens.

UGH! I didn't log back in and try again. I had had too frustrating a day to deal with that.

This is different than your complaint, but it sure felt good to rant about it.

If you are crashing every time one of your chars zones, then it might be a corrupted journal file. Hit alt-J to bring up the journal window, uncheck the box in the upper left, then recheck it. That should clear the crashing.

            Ha ha.

I just tried this with my traderbot. (Every time i log him off out of the bazaar, i crash to desktop)

Guess what happened when i checked off the journal box?

            Crash to Desktop.

I noticed the delay. The most annoying thing they've done to tradeskills since the new UIs slowed down combining, imo.

Splunge, if you crash when you check or uncheck that box on one char, the other way to fix it is a little more drastic....

Look in your evercrack folder for a directory called USRDATA. Inside that folder are a bunch of character journal files. The format for them is CJ_charname_servername$.* where $ can be a number (or nothing) and the file extention will be either hdr or txt. Look for the character that is crashing all the time and rename, delete or move all of files related to that character on that server. I like to put a Z in front of files, so that way they sort to the bottom of the list and are recoverable should that ever be needed.
