Opened my email this morning and am highly unamused.

Email with a HUGE to list, just ready for yet more spammers to snag and use to inflate their own mail spam lists, advertising selling PP for cash as well as various other items for cash on one of the servers (not my own server). Not only was it addressed to me, among other folks, but they had the gall to brag about making custom cultural armor with a link to my website in it.

How on EARTH can ANYONE who follows this site for any length of time (especially enough time to make blue diamond cultural) think that I would welcome such utter and total crap spam in my mailbox?!?!?! Hello, McFly, this is the DenMom you're spamming ... you know, the one that DETESTS folks who decide to break the rules and sell crap for real-life money.

I don't allow such TRASH on these boards, so what on earth possessed them to think that I wanted to see such junk in my mailbox?

They included not only their character name, but also their phone number, of all things!

Am VERY tempted to forward the email to VI and let them take care of this fool, since he was so stupid as to send me his contact info.

Reverse Spam the fellow back? - Post the basic content with the fellow's e-mail address. And have every user of the EQ Traders site who wants to send the fellow a e-mail message about how much they DISLIKE him sending out spam. Just one per person.

Ok, this is a pretty easy one to nix individually. Assuming this person left some way to contact them, you simply go to their ISP and get in touch with their abuse department. Spamming for any residential ISP is a very sure way to get an acct cut off. I'd suggest having a web based form to submit messages to you as well, which would keep your email address completely private.

What a great idea, is he/she on a PvP server? The TS community as a whole could roll up a fresh Toon on that server, and proceed to fling ourselves at him until they were lvl 10. Imaging an army of angry Gnomes flooding Shadowhaven to kill a single jerk. Man, what a great picture! Its really fun to be inside my head sometimes..... :twisted:

And after he gets EQ cut off, contact his local ISP and get his internet account hosed for spamming. No EQ, no net, heck I'd almost believe he had no life then! *chuckles and hugs DenMom*

I think posting his phone number here would be better. That way he'd get exactly what he wants... Lots of people talking to him about making armour for cash. They'd probably be telling him where to stick the armour before moving to some serious profanity, but it's not a perfect world.

PS: It's not death touch, it's harm touch. It can be resisted. It does 10 points of damage at level 1.

The beauty of the digital world!

First - we sniff the packets going to/from the mail server and figure out exactly where this mail is coming from... (This will eventually give us his ip address and which ISP he/she is using, not to mention what data they are transmitting).

Second - We take his ip, then send DOS (denial of service) attacks against him which will cripple his connection to slower than 300 baud dial-up access. (Can we say LAG!)

Third - This is where it gets good. Find a "friend" with a mail server and setup redirects for all the spam that come from him to his ISP sysadmin. (This is sure to make someone mad)

Forth - Sit back and enjoy the slow death of his internet service... kinda like a real life DOT!

Fifth - Show our lovely Den Mom the MRTG graphs of before and after of his connection. (This is where Den Mom /smiles)

Finally - DON"T REALLY DO ANY OF THE ABOVE! IT'S JUST FUN TO THINK ABOUT SOME OF THIS STUFF! :shock:
