  • Selling Haversacks (The Saga Continues!)

    GRRRR

It takes me a TON of time to forage 36 tufts per ATTEMPT and it costs me a ton of cash buying Blue Diamonds and platinum threads and yet more time running to make all the subcombines. Then once I finally make them (216 tailoring still isnt the BEST success rate). People argue saying they sell for 4k all the time.

Personally I watch the prices of what I sell so I know how much they sell for. Even the 250 tailors on my server only sell for 5k each. If he bought for 4k TELL ME WHO I want to buy them all thats what it cost me to make after failures!

But I can get a tink for 5250. GOOD go buy it! NP here let the gobbies have some sales too

/auc WTS Haversacks 5.5k each ST

/ XX tells you Would you sell 2 for 8k?

    /r no sorry

JEEZE they just took 3k off my asking price I've heard of haggling but thats WAY below you expect me to take 3k off but you wont even go to 10k (hey I took 1k off asking). People dont know how to haggle they just undershoot and insult and beg when I say no. As if 6 tells saying PLEASE will make me give in and take a hit.

Ok sorry I'm done hehe I hate time sinks but if I can make a profit Ill put up with it. Then people dont even want you to make a profit!

On the bright side WOOT skill up to 216 tailoring!

500pp per slot. Flate rate, you anret going to get better out of me unless you buy more than 2, in which case I'll drop it to 450 per slot. People ask me why I dont sell them at cost or cheap snymore, I answer "Well remember that one you bought from me and sold at market value a week later?" They shut up.

A hint for you, I presume you aer high enough level to be able to solo stalkers in PoN. They drop BD's infreqeuntly. I solo there if I have any reason to be grinding aaxp, and can usually walk off with 2-3 BD's and a handful of others to sell. Incidently, you complain, but do you know how long it takes a bard to forage one tuft? =)

I sell them for 5k to guild members and 6k to non guild members. Sometimes I sell them for 5.5 to acquaintances. Don't like it, don't buy my bags. Tink bag is cheaper? Good for you! Go buy a few.

It's not like I need to sell my bags. The way I look at it, you should feel honored I sold one to you. No, I am not kidding. I refuse to sell my bags to rude people no matter how much they are willing to pay for them.

I am darn proud of my bags and I have no trouble selling them at all.

I did have one 30ish monk tell me my bags were not worth that in a really rude way. I laughed in his face and said "Okay!" he kept going on and on. Then he tried to buy a bag 2 months later. "Oh yeah... I remember you... No bags for you!" Karma and note pad = rules.

I can see haggling on price if lots of people made them. Ive only seen 3 or 4 people on veeshan sell them and its RARE the other 2 or 3 auction them as often as I do. Now if the market flooded haggle away but havers are usually a sellers market.

I don't have time to forage the fur. I admit it. I buy everything in the bazaar except the thread. I don't make them for profit. I make them because I can and because they rock. I make them for free if people bring me the supplies and I am not busy.

I am in a raiding guild and doing the grimmel quest so all my spare time is spent stalking spiders for saps so I can fail some more robes.

There are not very many people on my server that make these bags and only about 2, maybe 3 who /auction them. I offer them to people who are auctioning for a weight reduction bag or specifically for the Haversacks.

I am never so desperate for money that I will sell my soul.

Curious to what is being sold for 500/450pp? Did you mean 5k and 4.5k?

As for blue diamonds, I just buy them off the vendors. I buy any under 250pp and if I really need some (or lazy), I'll buy them upto 300pp/each. Never more then that. NEVER.

I just buy them from the vendors. LDON drops piles of BDs, seed a blue diamond on the magus, you'll have more then enough blue diamonds to last you forever. Check pok vendors. Yesterday while wandering around pok, I picked up 15 stacks of BDs for 262pp/each.

What's funny is, I still see people in bazaar tring to sell them for 400-500pp/each. At least the 350s are reasonable. Are BDs still that hard to come by on other servers?

There's a few active halfling tailors making them on Rathe. I still get tells for them. I have no problems when others want to make them. When price drops enough where it's not worth it for me anymore, I'll just stop making them.

              Sea!

              BTW... great when you see...
Monk tells guild 'Quarm inc... '
AEs are already going off and then:
Trader tells you 'Are you available to make haversacks now?'
hehe... yes, I have gotten tells at that time before. =)

on veeshan Im lucky to buy Bds in any quantity below 400pp (most of the time 450pp-500pp is the going price). Each backpack (assuming no fails) costs about 2k per attempt.

                3 BDs ar 400-500pp each (lets say 450pp) = 1350pp
                3 platinum threads 208pp each = 624pp

thats about 2k per ATTEMPT assumign NO FAILS on the many subcombines the BDs go thru.

Lately Ive been gettign about a 60%-75% success rate so BEST case scenario thats about 3k per bag. Add in the time it takes to forage 36 tufts of fur (again LOTS of subcombines to fail these on) and the time it takes to run to a city to buy threads then run to rivervale to hit the cultural forge, THEN finally do combines and sell going lower than 5k would be shooting myself in the foot. I waste 2 hours doing all the subcombines when I do the bags (this doesnt count the forage times). If I farmed my BDs I'd never do anything but farm and combine.

Anything lower than 5k is nuts for almost anyone unless you have time to kill. Yet ppl still swear some guy (funny they never have a name) sold them for 3.5k or 4k the night before....

BDs go through cycles, even since LDoN. There have been times when I could buy pretty much as many as needed off of vendors for 262, and baz was often having people selling 250-270pp range, and there are other times (not just a few hours, but a few days or more) where 400pp (or even higher) is the lowest price.

Sealody, I sell my bags on a flat rate per slot of bag. IE if you want a 10 slot bag, you pay 500x10=5kpp. Flat cost, so they know how many slots they can afford. And, yes, I have had peopel ask if I can make 1,3,5,7, and 9 slot bags =)

Really the only ppl who buy havers are
                        1. a monk who really wants to keep his weight down (havers weigh less than tinks)
                        2. people who have money and are too lazy to go buy a tink and spend the 20 mins or less it takes to do it.

I went with Haversacks over bag of the tinkerers, for the basic reason of tradeskilled item > storebought item. I may not be able to use much of what I can make, but there's still a bit of pride in going for the tradeskilled versions of things, even if I can't make them myself.

I replaced all my Tink Bags with Haversacks because they weigh less. To me, this means higher quality, and I try to make sure everything I have is of the highest quality.

thanks for the commercial I'll pay you later Personally I prefer player made over game generated stuff. I put too much money on vendors when I got skills up Id really prefer to spend a little more and toss more cash into the player economy instead of tossing it into the vendors.
