    Ok, I'm addicted, but frustrated.

http://www.ebaumsworld.com/castle.html is the best flash game ever. Great stress relief.

My problem is, I'm losing my trroops , somehow.

I'l l save up, build a mana pool, and Errrrmm... Recruit a few peasents.

I'll make 10 wizard, and blast the heck out of anything that moves, and still, at level 12 or 13, My kill bonus is not high enough, I get a negative upkeep cost, and I lose most, if not all of my wizards.

This cripples me, and I lost around level 15.

Anyone else want to take a crack at it, and get addicted?

    Hints? PLEASE?

For me, buying archers and engineers, I would lose from having too much damage done to the castle, killing all the archers and engineers I'd bought so far. I went through buying only bomb guys, and got a bit farther, but still wound up getting trashed by not being able to acquire new peasants fast enough.

Never tried going the wizard path, hmm...

In other news, I am a newbie.

Found the official forums, and... Hello, Mr. FAQ.

      http://forums.xgenstudios.com/viewtopic.php?t=272

Upkeep is paid at thebeginning of the round. I was spending all of my money.

      I r teh SmRT!

      Anyway, GREAT game.

Aah, that explains it! I was wondering about upkeep, since my previous theory about castle damaging killing them at the end of the round proved very false this game through. Should be an interesting FAQ to read.

        -----

Just for the hell of it, I tried going the wizard route Lilosh mentioned. The round before I had enough money was hard - I wound up having to redo it three times, but I finally got through it, bought the mana pool and repaired my castle (using up the rest of my money, heh). In the next round, I bought 15 wizards, 13 of which were lost at the end (probably becaues I hadn't left much money behind). From there on out though it was smooth sailing. I eventually bought a archery & workshop, and had 5 engineers & archers. By the time I got bored (lvl 23), I had 45 wizards, so the upkeep came to about 9600. My kill bonus alone was ~16k (and increasing), plus the regular money, so I usually got 20-30k net per round. I left about 10k in the bank after each round, in case I need to do a ton of repairs afterward (never did, the 5 engineers easily kept up with the damage) - the rest I spent on fortifications, and was up to 120khp.

Once they start sending demoguys at you, it becomes so much easier, since you can just blow them up instead of using your mana spell #2 or your own demoguys. Its kinda weird how it gets easier, rather than harder, in the 20s thanks to that.

Since I was going to quit anyhow, I decided to try how archers work en-mass. I spent all my stored peasants (~40) on archers, and then only used the insta-convert spell and the temple for the level, letting archers do all the work. Even with over 120 archers, they couldn't keep up with lvl 24

Edit- After reading a bit of that forum, it appears my "mass" of 120 archers was rather pitiful compared to what many people use, heh. And I thought I had an oversized army

I currently have the game playing itself.

By level 20 or 23 or so, I'd saved up 300 archers, 200 wizards.

Once you get the pattern of the game down, it's cake.

After Level 4, I had the temple.
Level 10 , I had the Mana Pool, and enough money and converts for 10 wizards.

It just gets better and better.

Once you get 150+ Wizards, you can just mass-convert. Lots of mana.

Once you have 250-300 archers, the game plays itself. :-) Just click ok between rounds.

Stage 28 is where I finally got bored. 80 wizards, 300 archers and 50 engineers. 200k castle health. I would start a level and just let it run. Didn't have to touch the mouse anymore.

They need to add another enemy unit or 3 as you progress I guess. Or something. Was a very fun game for the first half hour, but you get it into a groove and just win.

Seriously, way cool game. Got to level 18 on first try.

Thanks for pointing it out, but I think I am retired before I truely began... OUCH.

1 cool point to Lilosh for posting this game... I'm on uh...level 21 and I can hear their demolition team trying to penetrate my pitiful 45k castle.

Being a cleric I figured the best defense was a lot of healers. You'd be amazed at what 20 craftsmen can heal. And what 350 archers can kill. My poor 16 wizards are outnumbered.
