Mobs not being up, GMs not around and rant...

Finally got all my skills up and components together to try my 7th Shawl, and the Pottery Merchant Gilithan Brittleblade (one of the quest NPCs) is NO FREAKING where to be found. This is on Tholuxe Paells

/petitioned 3 times, no responce.

Had a druid track the zone, no where.

All I can say is GAAAAAAAH!

Anyone know if the quest is broken?

That merchant has been permakilled on all servers. Seems he had this little problem with money, like he would pay you for stuff, but charge nothing when you bought them. Ponder this scenario: you sell him a sapphire for 95pp, then buy it back for 0 money, then sell it back to him for 95pp. Now think about doing that with a stack of sapphires, or bars of velium, or a stack of blue diamonds, over and over and over.

Should be back next patch.

Why the @#$% does it always have to be the useful NPCs/merchants that have these kind of bugs kick in with them???

Why can't it ever be some worthless NPC that no one will ever miss or care about???

It's always gotta be either a quest NPC or the only NPC in a 50 zone radius that sells the one important component that some class of tradeskiller needs in order to do thier training, combines, etc.

And most importantly, why can't ***I*** be the one to discover bugs like this?!?!?!?

Probably *because* of that uniqueness. I don't see how it could happen, but still, when you have 1 copy of a NPC template it takes longer to find bugs than when you have 500 copies of the template scattered around in all sorts of situations. And when you change something else, you see that the Norrath Price Fixing Association's clone army is all well and fine, but you don't check their independant outlets.

Probably how they get broke ... although still, a bug where a lone merchant doesn't charge seems really freaky to me.

Think about it, Skunk. If the bug existed with a worthless NPC, no one would ever notice. For all we know, one of the general merchants tucked away in Shar Vahl sells an iron ration for 1cp and buys it back for 100pp.

He's the pottery merchant in the Thurgadin Exchange, same building as the bank, yes? He's the one near the edge wall?

I wandered into Thurg a day or two back on unrelated business when I saw him up. Curious, I clicked him, and he appeared to be working normally. He charged me for purchases and paid me for sales. This was on Veeshan.

To clarify, all the normal vendors in the Thurg exchange were up and working normally, as far as I could tell. I didn't try the Shawl steps, of course, being past that bit.

Maybe it's something server-specific?

He is not required for competion of the shawl. Simply bring a HQ firing sheet with you to Thurg from your favorite potting NPC merchant in your zone of choice.

I just completed a 7th shawl for a friend a little over a day ago with no problems. I had to gate to POK real quick to get a HQ firing sheet as I didn't know the NPC had been permakilled.

I too was wandering around Thurgadin on... gasp, I can't remember anymore... Well, either Sullon, MithMarr, or least likely Tarew Marr. All merchants seemed to be in their appropriate places... maybe it's fixed already?

I was also looking for him a few days ago and he was nowhere to be found. This was on the Tarew Marr server. I haven't been back to check on him recently.
