I may actually have an answer for the original poster (although he probably didn't want an answer). Why are there 10 Underfoot Mushroom and only 7 Strange Dark Fungus?

There are 3 recipes that use one or both of these components.

Underfoot Brown uses four Underfoot Mushroom.
Thurb's Darkened Ale uses one Strange Dark Fungus.
Kaladim's Consitutional uses one Underfoot Mushroom and one Strange Dark Fungus.

So, if people use all these recipes, you would need more Underfoot Mushroom than Strange Dark Fungus.

The database states that "a strange dark fungus" is a groundspawn in both North and South Kaladim. Is this true?

This would help even out the numbers if someone knew where they spawn in South Kaladim.

I've occasionally seen random mushrooms in odd places, like the entrance to the mine in North Kaladim or the pool outside the clerics guild in N Kal and other strange places. I've never seen them there more than once, so in all likelyhood it was someone who dropped them there.

I'm guessing the report of them spawning in South Kaladim is the same. I can say with a rather high degree of certainty that they do not spawn in the entrance hallway or the west half of South Kaladim (or if they do, the spawn is randomized after patchs and is multiple hours between spawnings, or alternatively they despawn rapidly. Neither possibility is consistant with the NKal spawns, so I doubt they are true). I haven't spent nearly the amount of time in the east half, so I'm not as certain about over there, but if they DO spawn in that area, the pattern must be highly abnormal.

Of course, they could've always added a new spawn ...
