Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat.

193 skill, 237 WIS, well over 100 skill up attempts on Halas Meat Pies and Pixie Cinny Sticks with no luck.

Here's to hoping you break your streak soon.

When I was 214, 215 took me over 250 combines. I stopped counting at 250, and sometime later almost fainted when I saw "You have become better at baking (215)"

      I almost cried with joy.

Thanks Balkin for the encouragement, but I don't drink. *cowers back*

Oh yeah, I know how that is Lilosh. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw "You have become beter at Baking! (197)" That 200 combine rant I put in above turned into 238 combines by the time I skilled up.

I'm at 200 now. After a 500 combine run yesterday, I got 3 skill ups. With a KEI and one of my own MTP's helping, I got up to a 250 Wis. Still only got the 3 skill ups. Oh well.

When does it start to speed up again? Around 210?

BTW Lilosh, how are you doing with your baking? Hit 250 yet?

MTPs are the devil to skill up on. Absolute worst skill up per combine rates I've seen. Either that or I get skill up hell levels, by complete coincidence, every time I do 100 MTPs. You decide.

Hobbun: Since my UBER-run of 231 hero parts that got me to 238, and the few combines the next day to hit 239, I havent been baking much.

But I am 50+ combines into this point, and no luck...

9 days till our goal, and my PC is dead..... Formatted, awaiting an OS and fresh re-installation.

            *cry*

Try getting an Intellectual Superiority buff before your next skill-up session... It seems to work pretty well for me.

Ouch Lilosh. I hope you get your PC up and going soon, I know that can be rough not to get your EQ.

As for skilling up on on MTP's, they may be ugly to skill up on, but the ingredients are easy to get a hold of.

What I think is the best way to determine to skill up on an item is how many "choke" points it has. Cigarskunk used that word once in another thread and I feel its the best description. A choke point being how many ingredients slows you down whether its farming, foraging or anything that cannot be bought from an easily accessible vendor. And I feel MTP's has the least amount of "choke"points. It has some, but they are easily manageable.

Brownie parts: Almost impossible to hunt at my level except off of Nillipuss in Rivervale which I do when I get the chance. They are easily available in bazaar usually for 5pp each. And give me 100 combines per part. Not a problem.

Eggs(variable): I foraged a bunch of varying types of these when lower levels just from hunting in different areas. Have made 3 stacks of dough with it, have lots left. Also not a problem.

Vegetables: Can be foraged in any zone almost. Get more of these than I need.

                  Fruit: See one above.

I did look at other ones to skill up on but just too many choke points for them. Halas meat pies need the mammoth and wolf meats which cannot be bought except in bazaar. I need great numbers of them even though they yield 10 when making HMP's because I do 200-300 combines a night.
And it needs 2 clumps of dough to make one combine of it. Ouch. I only need one clump of dough to make 100 combines for MTP's.

I thought about doing the Casseroles. Again, too many choke points. Yields are not high enough to make the noodles from the eggs. Eggs ARE easily gotten in Lavastorm, but require farming, which I would like to avoid if i can while skilling up. And that doesn't include the meats or plant shoots which are needed. Which need to be foraged or farmed as well.

As for PoP recipes, I do not have PoP yet, so that is out.

Sorry for going on so long, but in the end, I just feel MTP's are the easiest product to assemble ingredients for. The others may skill up faster, but I don't think I will save any time by having to do the more farming, foraging for them.

                  Thanks for everyone's advice.

                    Hell points

                    When I was 199 skill, 200 took 347 combines.

                    200-205 took a TOTAL of about 40

I am 70 combines so far trying for 206 (

                    **** RNG is incredibly streaky.

I actually have a theory on how they do this. I think, each time you skill up, the RNG assigns a random number to your char for their next skillup (say its random 800 1000). One time you get a 800. Every combine you make has a random 0 1000 roll. If you exceed 800, you get the skillup. That would happen pretty fast. On the other hand, if you got a 999 as your number to beat, the point takes forever to break. I'd also guess that Higher Wis/Int or alt stat, is added to your roll in some way, perhaps along the lines of, 10 wis = 2 points, since it seems to make a difference, but not a HUGE one.

Anyway, I could be dead wrong, but a system like that eould certainly explain the results I have had.

Went home to a freshly formatted PC last night, spent the better part of four hours troubleshooting the IDE connections, Installing the OS, Tweaking XP to not be retarded resource hog, and reinstalling a few essentials.

EQ, naturally, was installing first thing after I got my latest video drivers.
