  • Frustrated as *******

Alright, I guess I am just here to vent some steam, but the RNG has been rather nasty to me lately.

Over the last 5 days or so I have done approximately 80 or more solstice robe combines to increase my skill from my current skill of 192. So, during that time of course, I have wasted 360 spider threads, 360 celestial essence, 180 imbued emeralds (which my friends are sick of making for me & for whom I have bought several mass imbue emerald spells for, lol), 180 jars of acid, 4 gem studded chains, and of course a whole butt load of clickys.

Uggh, I know the RNG is just being nasty to me.

Well, I do have some loy robe combines I can make, so I think I am going to make them just so I can see a point or two; I may even do some more erudite cultural stuff despite the platinum threads costing so dang much & the final product not selling worth a dang. I had originally planned to wait until I had either reached a skill of 212 or until I ran out of gem studded chains before moving on to the loy robes. I had also thought that the solstice robes would be a bit cheaper and provide better skill ups than the wyvern armor, but now I am not so sure and at least with the wyvern armor I was getting a skill up roughly every 20 combines or something.

Guess its back to the drawing board.

Oh, and my wis is around 262 and int is around 250 when doing my combines.

    What b.s.

I did very little skilling up on Solstice robes as I found the skill check rate abisimal(sp). Do acrylia better rate for me it seemed.

      Ugh

      Sorry to hear that.

I started my first 200 solstice robe combines at 192 skill level, and those 200 got me to 203. I'm still in the process of gathering spider silks for the next set of 200, one bag full of swatches to go.

If I don't get another 10 or so out of these (with 2 ethereal swatch points in there), I'll probably move off to acrylia or something, since robes will start becoming successful more frequently.

Looks like the RNG bit ya....a friend of mine in my guild has had similar results, 200 combines, and I think he got 1, maybe 2 skillups.

Do whatever you think will save your sanity.

If it makes you feel better....to get 197 took me 74 solstice robes, with 9 successes on combines 7,27,31, 42,53,61,63,70,71. I've seem to have had extremely bad luck with successes on these evil solstice robes.

Also...expect to do a ton of combines to get the 210 point. Speaking with several people it seems that point is complete hell.
So far I've done 27 acrylia bracers, 8 acrylia masks, 16 wyvern, 5 drake, 36 LoY robes (18 lvl 2, 9 each of lvl 3 and lvl 6), and 14 solstice robes...and I'm out of components to try more.
Just so you know you aren't alone.... =(

Edit: And 20 othmir caps...still nothing!

Is it just me or are the cultural items easier to skill up on than normal tailoring? I went from 115 (quivers) to 122 on 15 combines of Imbued Vale Masks....

Anyways.. i'm going to avoid all LoY combines as the amount of plat they require to make and the totaly cruddy skill up rate that i'm seeing on the boards here...

Now i'm off to Wu's.. when my chanter alt gets to level 12 that is... vials... and kiolas? why 4 heady kiolas????

/e wonders why he ever picked up a needle and thread

250 in brewing with a trophy! All other trade skills? /sigh don't ask.

            Bah, the 190s are HORRIBLE.

I got stuck in your position, 192 to 193 took me just under 140 reinforced rockhopper masks.

            Keep trying!

At a skill of 115 to 158 , you have no idea what you are even talking about and I certainly wouldn't discard Loy items, because almost everyone has confirmed that they are better skill ups, thus reducing the amount you are going to spend on material doing other combines. Loy robes are very inexpensive, and I imagine they sell a lot better than some of the other player made garbage (arctic wyvern masks).
