Not sure if it's still true after the revamp (I know it's not mostly), but if you do that and live, you end up at the feet of a mob that death touches every 30 seconds.

Not sure if the new mob there is still KoS or not. You can't recover the corpse without a summoner or a gater either, it's past a one way drop off.

(at least pre-revamp) If you take a lvl 1 and take the plunge, you don't always take lethal falling damage - the local mob can sometimes get a swing in while you're still airborne and 1-round you :P

Never been DT'd while, uh, researching the safefall of clerics, that's it.

Well, haven't tried out my Hole explorer/dragger mule since the revamp...I'll have to see if she's still safe from all those big mean ole nasty mobs...but yes, you can (or could) recover corpses from The Hole without a summoner or gater.

I'll have to test to see if the following is still true, but under the pre-revamp dungeon, the following is how it worked:

While it is fastest to use a SoS rogue for recovering those inconveniently placed corpses, a very low level halfling or dwarf rogue who follows Brell can also be used for recovery in The Hole. Level them a bit to make getting hide/sneak up easier (rats and ghosts will attack them otherwise...the golems and so on, which are on Brell faction, will con KoS but ignore them). Take them to Paineel and bind them just outside the entrance to The Hole.

The baby rogue can zone in, get hide/sneak up, and sneak all the way down (dive down the waterfall to the pond when you can, it'll halve your travel time), and drag the corpse(s) back up to the drop off (be prepared to be very bored...baby rogues can't sneak very fast and it's about a 15 minute trip back up). Then suicide on a mob, which places you back at your nice convenient bind right outside, go back in to the drop off, and /corpse the corpse(s) up to the top and finish dragging them.

Since characters under 10 don't loose exp or gear, I even outfitted my dragger with some junk gear and a lantern. She's the best dressed mob spotter in The Hole!

I'll check if the revised hole still lets these baby rogues sneak around or not...I certainly hope it does, as I've lost track of the number of times I've helped some poor shmoe who mistepped recover their gear this way.

Revamp Hole limits the brell halfling rogue unfortunately. The golems are all non-kos, the ghosts are kos (but don't see hide), while the gargoyles are KoS and see hide. Thus the rogue mule is still useful, but there are limits to where one can go, including the entire deepest sections (guarded by gargoyles on both entrances, can't stay behind them).

As far as /corpsing up the waterfall, I thought they added a limit to z-axis dragging?

                Cigar,

                I noticed your sig has:

No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

I'm not sure that's a bug... I think it was simply part of new section of coding that was added to increase the difficulty for evil characters, with that line being addressed to Trolls in particular. In other words, everything is "Working as intended!"

Ah, you misunderstood me - when I say drag back to the drop off, I'm talking about the long way back all the way up to the one-way drop just before the first building, not back up the waterfall.

And yes, I tried out my hole dragger last night....could only get about 1/3rd of the way down, to the long tunnel that runs from the city down to the building with the paladin/shaman/SK/enc epic mobs. There were gargoyles perched on rocks in that tunnel that you have to pass too close to, so no way to avoid aggro

I guess my corpse dragger has left her last corpse in The Hole - the only reasons I kept her was because she was useful for helping out people who had mistepped and fallen down the hole in Paineel.

Typical clueless non-evil - I'd have to burn my DE faction if I wanted to deal with those woodland snacks.
