At 60-65, and epiced, half my guild doesn't maintain 10k in one place, at one time.

Heck, with 10k, you can possible get a spell you need at the higher levels. :-)

So you're not a newbie for thinking 10k is alot.

I'm level 52. Thanks to tradeskills, I have a few hundred plat in the bank at any given time.

However, I can still afford the space that goes between "a" and "lot."

Sanna, I know what you mean about brownies. Even at level 61 a lot of the old fears are still well rooted and flourishing like a well-tended garden. Those nasty spiders in FV on the run to Lake of Ill Omen are a good example. They’re green to me now but they still give me the willies when I run past them. Brownies are the same way. A lot of time spent in LFay doing a druid quest early on gave me great respect for those little guys. So I’m still not comfortable with the idea of hunting there. Thankfully, there is an alternative to LFay for brownie meat.

If you visit Steamfont Mountains and head over to the entrance to the minotaur caves you can hunt brownies that are somewhere around level 11. Just kill everything that you find in that area and the brownies will spawn. They only spawn one or two at a time, but since one brownie meat is good for 100 picnic combines its not so bad. There are just two higher-level mobs that can spawn in that area to be careful of. The Minotaur Hero (level 35) seems to be rare these days, at least I’ve never seen him, but the Kobold Missionary (level 25) can be a problem. During my last meat run he spawned about four times and the local guards will not attack him to save your life. Naturally, if your much higher level these two won’t be a problem. But if not they can ruin a perfectly good farming session.

Actually, I prefered the Halas pies when they came out, over the MTPs. I had at that point never even been to Misty or Rivervale! I started my first char in Halas, and stayed there for nearly 8 months before moving past Qeynos. Even after that, I didn't want to move much. I've always loved being a barbarian, even when playing other alts. The result? I have more stacks of mammoth meat than I can count No forageables required, and my main baker is my warrior.. yep, I don't get skill raises very much I don't sell them, but I do eat them. Not everyone who makes them are selling or even after skill raises, sometimes it's just pure RP. (Goes back and looks before the Grammar Police take her Barb butt away )ohhhh welllll....

I don’t know if it’s just that I am an efficient killing machine (PBAoE) or what, but I find the SF brownies spawning like crazy when I am there hunting for Iron Oxides.

As a result, I have perhaps 8 stacks of Brownie parts in the bank, and this is after I gave away 3 or 4 stacks a few weeks ago to someone in the tradeskill channel.

Back when I was making MTPs, I would always make a point to do the combines in Rivervale. Almost everytime I was there, Nillipus was up. He's a free, easy brownie part. Between him, and one lucky purchase in the bazaar, I got all the brownie parts I needed. Don't forget 1 brownie part gives you 200 MTP combines.

BTW, as a druid, the one thing I liked about making HMP's is that all that filletting and creaming was something to do while medding for mana. It was easier to stock for while hunting than MTPs.

Empirically speaking I got 2-3 times more skillups per combine on average with HMP than MTP in the 188-220 range.
Practically speaking though, HMPs require FOUR times as many subcombines to make, so even assuming that you managed three times as many skill ups, you're still doing 25% more total clicks then if you'd simply done MTPs.

These seem to be the points that those who still favor HMPs for some god for saken reason just can't seem to understand -

                1) They take FOUR times as many subcombines

                2) They are more expensive to make

                3) They sell for far less

                4) They require 10 times as much farming for raw materials

                5) They only fit in GIANT containers

                6) They wiegh a ton - one 10 slot BP of them wieghs in at a massive 142 weight!

                7) Low trivia + high yeild = space overload - there is a very specific reason why it's relatively easy to find a few backpacks worth or HMPs rotting on a vendor and yet I've NEVER seen MTPs rotting on a vendor

I agree with you Cigarskunk once baking is close to HMP trivial. I wish I had kept records to prove my belief one way or another, but I think at skill level 202, the failure rate on MTP's is so bad that you have almost nothing to sell. Where as HMP's succeed enough that it's tough to plan for them all. And because they are harder to make, there's less competition, so the market is less likely to crash for them.

(Of course, once I hit 220 or so, I never made HMP's again. But for a while, they were a good stage to go through. And now the only thing I'm willing to bake are justice pies or lucky cabbage.)

There's been some discussion on the maximum that a druid could crit for , with summers flame, and all the fury AAs, and the new bard song, and ID4, and it was somewhere higher then 3k.

Yeah, I've always personally felt that mine should be bigger, too.

BTW I have just under 1K HP unbuffed, and 2K buffed, so even the "usual size" would send me on a dirt nap most of the time.

*Suddenly wants to take her cleric and go to that HUGE ARSCHE HOLE in Paineel, DA/DB, and jump.....*

And yes, Cigar, the main reason that I am still doing Halas 10 is that successes = selling = plat. Maybe at 214 I'd have a few more successes to justify making the MTPs, but... it's just depressing when you click and click and don't get anything back.

Yes, I know, 'don't take up tailoring or smthing'. And yes, I haven't baked more than 2 stacks of anything since reaching 45, b/c I have three mules and they are ALL FULL OF CRAP, a significant chunk of which is HMP.

Either i'll eat them or give them to my roomie's BL alt, or give them to guildies, or something. They'll go away, I have no fear.

The above three paragraphs were inserted to justify my off-topic comments above that. ^_^
