Regrua claws...All bakers want them and I'm not an exception.

My guild recently managed to down Rallos Zek the Warlord on Xegony and the two bakers in the guild with spoons (I being one of them) decided that we wanted to hunt in PoW and get some claws for the party platters. Luckily for us we're in a guild that is happy to oblige and we set up an xp group to go down and kick some crabby butt.

First night we took the long way. Tarean (the other spoon wielder and a warrior) was our tank and I was playing cleric as usual (as usual meaning I am a cleric). Things went great until we got to the crabs, we had a great group but lacked an FD puller...First pull we got two and wiped. 30 minutes later I rezzed everybody at the graveyard and we called it a night.

Our second time down the enchanter (who was with us the first night) had done some reasearch and we pretty much just invised to them and set up camp. We'd brought along a monk this time so he ran out and pulled.

Regrua Sentry incoming! Blam blam, Tarean is going down faster than a cheesecake that got the oven door slammed on it..CH lands for 7500, we win, claws drop! YAY for Tarean! We were feeling emboldened by our easy victory (well, not easy but we won) so we moved a bit futher down. Next inc, blam blam, CH's are much smoother this time since I'm somewhat used to the mobs quadding my tank for 1200. Another victory and score two claws for da Chak.

We progressed like this for about an hour or so when the Shaman had to go afk. No biggie, only five minutes. Well, the enchanter decided to go afk as well to help his father with something. Again, no biggy, was just gonna take a few minutes.

The Regrua Sentry repops and start meandering over toward us. The tank, Tarean, whips out his Truncheon of Doom and nails evasive. Lucky proc and the mob is slowed (remember, both slowers are afk at this point in time). He switches out to his 2hs and goes to town. Our monk starts the beatdown. The Mage sends in his pet then nails the swarmpet AA..then he proceeds to nuke like a madman. I'm busting out Supernal Exilers to keep the tank steady between CH's (these fights, even with a 9k tank (unless he's in disc) pretty much consist of chaining CH's until the mob or your tank dies) and even hit DVA to help out a bit.

Mob is down to 10...5...0...bling! We killed a quad 1200 mob with four people and no slowers. I've never been so proud of my guildmates. I know my little post doesn't do it justice..and for that I'm sad. It was the shining star to cap a perfect night in the Reef of Coirnav. Tarean and I both walked out with 12 claws each, a few AA's, and some great memories. I wasn't able to keep everybody alive. Tarean died once, Nablzin (the mage) died once, and Eldaar (the shaman) died like 3 times due to EB troubles...But the sense of accomplishment was tremendous.

I haven't been in Machin Shin very long, just a few months really, but I've watch us as a guild go from killing various named in Ssra to killing the Emp, to clearing Vex Thal, to killing Rallos Zek and Solusek Ro. That night seemed like magic. Truly the kind of thing that made EverQuest a great game years ago, and I'm happy that I got to experience the feeling of wonder at exploring and feeling so much pride at doing something new yet again.

    Thanks for listening

Wow....great story. Thanks so much for sharing! Sounds like a total blast...groups like that just kick butt - fighting for your life, maybe you'll make it, maybe you won't, everyone pulling for the team.

Grats on the claws too! Happy baking! =)

      *sheds a tear* Excellent

      [/Simpsons]

I harbor great hopes for my guild. We've recently gone from Kael Arena and Random epic raids, to Clearing Fear, Taking Down Rumblecrush/Other Umbral Named, doing various Tier One PoP events, and Heading out to NToV.

Maybe in a few couples of months, I'll be fondly looking back at SSRA and VT.

Congrats. What server are you on?

Xegony, same as Angel, Sienea, Wyst, Gamgan, and numerous other fine tradeskillers.

I'm more of a dabbler than anything, picked up baking to do the shawl quest after velious came out and never put it down (notice that I was 130ish a few weeks after velious and just now got 250 w/mod). It's a fun way to pass time and meet new people for me, not a way of life.

No one looks back at SSRA fondly.

That camp in PoWater is one of the most fun camps I've been to in a while. My guildmates and I have been spending some time down there collecting tradeskill bits (also a good place to get slarghilug slime, strands, bow staves, soapstones and e`cian ice), and it's one of those camps that is so dangerous it's fun.

              Grats on your claws.

I've done the Regrua/Hraquis camp a few times, an I agree that its one of the most exciting exp/farm spots in the game. Not only do the mobs drop TS stuff, but the rares (Hraqui) drop some really nice stuff too. Underwater combat is always a trip, and its one of the coolest looking zones in the game imo...quite a rush.

If you spend enough time in SSRA to be keyed for VT, I doubt you will be looking back "fondly". I just finished VT key except for the piece off Emperor SSraeshza and if I NEVER see one of those blasted snakes again it will be too soon!!!

However, it will pay off when guild does Emperor and priority goes to those for whom his drop is their last piece for VT key. Looking forward to all that awesome VT gear people link in channels all the time!

                  Happy Tradeskilling!!!

I wish I had better experiences in water, like kick butt groups. I agree it's a cool zone - just sucks with 72 people in one tiny area =P

That's why you don't take 72 people all the time

And, strangely enough, once I got to elementals I began to wish I were back in Ssra and VT

Competition, overcrowding, and backflagging are sapping my will to raid these days.

hehe Sony was mean when it created ssra. Nobody wants to come back there, they just farm it until everyone can go to VT. ah, but there is a catch: VT is not much better than ssra, worse in my opinion. I will be so happy once we're out of VT and I never have to come back to luclin again unless I want to go do some shopping.

Gratz on the claws though, I'm very jealous. Hope one day I have a similar encounter, nothing better than good loot and good fight to go along with it

True - I'm sure the guild I was raiding with doesn't anymore - well, course they're not, they're in time. =P

But back in December of last year, yeah, we had everyone in there, trying to learn the zone...I hated that place. =P

Man, that was such a night.

I have tanked some pretty hairy stuff before. Have been one rounded by gods, have stood toe to toe with Rallos Zek, Mithaniel Marr, Beroxtulos, and Solusek Ro. None of those quite compared with this camp.

What Chakfor forgot to mention was 40% of his ch's hit me at under 10%. Thats healing skill :P

That night was the sort of night where warriors make their board signatures out of. I recall bragging about 3 particular maxed ch's on the steel warrior. Chakfor got a 7500+ every fight :P

We also got the regura overlord to spawn right as we were about to leave. Quad 1300, flurry. We took him out in a fight that rivals just about anything I've done. Chakfor got a ch off when I was at 0%, several below 10% and we just barley got him dead when my disc went out. Whew.

Now thats how you earn claws!!!
