except that a portable forge would be a container and thus not able to be put inside another container, 100% weight reducing or not.

Portable forges aren't unheard of (farriers have them) but they are definitely heavy.

As far as allowing for magic to make it possible to carry it, between stats on my gear, my stat buffing spells and the low weight of most of my armor I have more than enough strength to carry 100+ more stones of weight than I do on a normal daily basis.

So are armor, weapons, and the like. Yet many of these exist with 0.1 or 0.0 weight. We take heavy blocks of metal and turn them into armor that's lighter than the sum of it is parts, yet there are no scrap metal bits. It is EQ, it doesn't have to make real world sense.

What it comes down to is if SOE wants to add it, they'll add it. No rationalization on size, weight, or fuel will matter.

Collapsible forge, just like the other ones. Again, it's magic, it doesn't have to make sense. Personally, if they added it, I'd grab one right away, but, I'm not going to moan about it not being in the game. I just wanted to point out in my post that trying to come up with logical reasons for it not to exist in EQ is rather illogical.

Notice that our characters don't have to go to the bathroom either. We should get this fixed, its not realistic.

            Oh it gets worse.

My roommate and I sometimes thumb through an old Prima guide to Kunark. There's still good stuff in it, and one VERY interesting page about tradeskilling. Here are some of the tradeskill containers it lists...

Sharpening Kit - 2-slot portable forge
Smithing Kit - 6-slot small, static forge
            Key Maker - 2-slot static.. something /boggle
Pottery Kit - 6-slot portable pottery wheel

Before anyone goes off saying, "It's just wrong," know that these items actually do exist in the game. It's just that no one sells them. I'd guess that all the smithing kits were just replaced with the larger forges, and I have no idea what would combine in Key Maker.

It's already "in game". 6 slots only weighs 0.2 In fact someones confirmed having one as recently as July. Now to figure out how the rest of us can get ahold of one.

                The implications are terrifying:

                Vendor sold TP
Long lines at public bathrooms at zone lines
The cleric that stalls a raid casue he cant hold it anymore.

                The list would be endless...

                  doubt that portal forge exists.

no items have that corresponding item id at lucy.fnord.net. And lucy has been FAR more accurate than magelo ever was in terms of what items are in the game. Items that are even in the database show up on lucy first

i remember seeing things in old magelo profiles like "lots of peridots" or something like that which dont exist either

Lucy's database isn't as complete as you'd think (there are recipes on this site that aren't listed. e.g. Gravel Leaf Tea) and the collector is currently broken as of this most recent patch. I have at least a dozen items not listed in bank right now that I tried to add, all of it pre-PoP. As for these mystery items...

                    Item #17956 - Sharpening Kit
Item #17950 - Smithing Kit (thanks Velaraa for link)
                    Item #17999 - Key Maker
                    Item #17949 - Pottery Kit

I would love to have a portable forge...

Or at least a full set of Tradeskill containers at the Lighthouse in Gunthak.
