  • Lets beat another dead horse...

People who take large sized races (Ogre, Troll, barbarian etc..) and stand on top of or directly in front of other traders.

One guy did this to me last night, I sent him a tell asking if he even looked to see if anyone is standing there when he sets up trader.

    His response:

"Nope. I log and hit trader".

    Then a few seconds later:

    "I'm a d**k".

    And that was all.

I wonder, is there some rule against this?

    I (and apparently you) wish.

People are free to be as... insert favorite dead horse here... as they like. Especially in EQ.

How can you combat this dead horse?

    Shared bank space = live.
Shared plat account = soon live.

    Itek. DE Enchanter. Guild XX.

    Itekious. Ogre twink. Guild XX.

Some other variations I have used.

    Itekx
    Itekam
    Itekarm

    You get the idea.

    OR....

Move your trader more than 20 feet away from a bank. I won't say where my favorite spot is, but only once in the last 4 months has there been an ogre blocking me. (Try near the arena. People will find you.)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

This is why I love the people who MGB wolf form and/or shrink. I'd rather look like everyone else than have an ogre sitting on me all the time.

Maybe they should turn off models in the Bazaar and make us all humans.

Not all human.. and not all the same either.

Given they have restricted where you can become a trader to certain areas (the stalls)... what might be reasonable is to have the stalls sub-divided so that any particular area can have a MAX # of traders.

Currently the bazaar has 5 Awning Covered areas, each two sided. Total Maximum # of slots is 500. So each stall area would be limited to 100. each side... 50...and maybe even sub-divide that side into 3 parts... [ 15 -- 20 -- 15 ]. If you try and become trader in an area with the limit reached, the message would be "Sorry the stall you are in is too crowded, try another stall"... (if there are open slots anywhere).

This would force people to spread out more... and such... but I know people will whine about this also. But that would be my suggestion.

I think its a good suggestion, but there would still be the dim-wits who want to cover up another trader.

I usualy stay near the SH bank so its easy to get stuff in and out of the bank, and a few of my guildies are in the same stall with me, this guy has just started appearing over the past few weeks, while I've been in this spot for months.

I squeeze my big barbarian self on top of a crate between two poles. No way in heck anyone bigger than I could fit in there, yet it's very easy for customers to reach me. The most a biggun could do is stand directly in front of me, but then all someone would have to do is come around the side. I also sit, in case anyone wants to climb on the barrel behind me that sits up even higher but would also still be within reach for customers.

              Just a thought

I also move towards the back of the bazaar...

Though for me it's more to reduce lag so my trader will stay up than it is for being crowded.

That said, I rarely have more than one other person with 10 feet of me where I set up. *shrug* I like it there.

If I am buying something in the bazaar and more than one trader has it at a reasonable price, I will check out which direction each is in and go to the one furthest from the clusters by the bank.

I will gladly pay a little more for something from a trader that doesn't take 5 minutes to actually get targetted.

When I am in trader mode, you will only find me at the back of the bazaar.

Unless the trader near the bank is the ONLY one selling an item I want, I will buy from someone else. Because lag is too horrific to move much less target someone (even if you could find em in the mass of flesh). If the price of buying from someone else is too high, I'll either not buy at all, or attempt the one near the bank. If however I start doing the "5 second stutterstep" I will just go back to my barrel and give up on whatever the item was.

You'd think those people near the bank would realize...their location is a hindrance. If there were only 100 people in the bazaar, being near the bank would make sense. But with 500 traders and 150 "extra" folks wandering around near the entrance..the LAST place anyone is gonna wanna head, is near the bank. And since 100 others schmo's also think the bank is a "great place" even without lag folks would be less likely to shop there, because it's too difficult to find anyone.

Wolfform = BAD. Even if it does reduce lag, it certainly isn't by much. Not enough that you'd wanna spend more time clicking on all the people individually to find the one you wanted (even if names are on, they're all mushed together at the same height)..that you could have seen more easily had there been differences in height/race. I do a /who on the person I'm trying to find to see what race/class I'm looking for. I despise when everyone is in wolfform because it makes it even more difficult to tell the difference in the huddled bodies.

                      WAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

I play a troll - there's no room on my lap for some fat ogre to plop down on top of.

BTW - why do most of these idiots also chose female ogres with the most hidious face possible?

I doubt you intentionaly block people...

                        As for the female ogres..

They probably have nothing worth selling and want to try to scare everyone else away.

                          The fix

A new bazaar with FIXED stall spaces that the code keeps traders off each other

Type /trader near the platform and you are moved onto it in a fixed spot that is open.

Well. There are people with "regulars" and that stay in genral small areas... the random popping to another area would disrupt that.

In the eight months or so (minus 2 for germany) that I have stayed overnight in bazaar, religiously...

I have never been sat on by large, obscuring, ugly as sin traders.

                              Till this week.

Not once, but TWICE have I woken up in the morning to be greeted, once by a troll butt, and once by an ogre butt, literally in my face.

Before, I merely considered this a 'sympathetic annoyance'. You know... nod head and agree, poor gnomes and dwarves, must be hard... Now I want this changed.

I can deal with not being in the same spot in the bazaar all the time, now. All someone has to do to find me is bring up /baz, find me in the dropdown menu, search, and click my name and walk forward till they find me.

Having traders spread out even in the bazaar might also help with lag.

Anyone know how to make Sony listen to me? /sigh. If there were a way, I'm sure it would have been used and shut down already.

                              On a more philosophical note...
Why are people jerks to begin with? (anyone note the irony of the sullon person asking this question?)
