  • The RNG is Planning Something Evil for Me

I was too busy to play EQ this past weekend, so I set my druid up as a trader on my notebook computer while I used my desktop computer to work.

Business was good. People were buying Geerloks and collapsed tradeskill containers (including one person who bought six collapsed containers at one time!), so every so often I would take a break from work and have my gnome do a little tinkering to restock the inventory.

Well, from just a few sets of three or four combinations at a time, he advanced from 194 to 197 in his tinkering skill!

Obviously, the random number generator is plotting its revenge as I type this message. My poor little gnome may never see another skill-up!

    Whoa!

I strongly suggest you start your sacrificial ritual to the RNG God now! Try to appease it!

I find sacrificing gnomes usually hel....

    Oh, wait...

    Yer a Gnome right?

Um, I hear snow bunnies make good sacrifices...

    uh...

Yeah... I'm gonna get going now...

Snowbunny killed me once. Man that was embarassing. Hope no one finds out about th.. urk!

On an aside, I've found that I get more skillups when producing orders for people than when doing large runs of a single item.

The RNG is simply happy that you are doing things the way it wants you to do them at the moment. It is simply the RNG's desires coinciding with your work ethic.

          Congrats!!!

I dread how I am going to pay for my recent streak. I keep telling my husband to shut up whenever he says "the RNG adores you - you're not going to fail". I yell "JINX!"

Then again, it could be paying me back for the day from sheer living hell last week. First, I failed to enchant not one but TWO chunks of E'cian ice to make an Emblem of Water (you know, that TRIVIAL smithing combine). Then I died 4 times trying to break a camp because I was too stubborn to ask for help (and forgot to rez myself before looting corpses on both me and my cleric.) Then I went to the kitchen to grab a glass of juice. I picked it up with my bad hand, my hand cramped, I dropped the glass, it shattered on the kitchen floor, and I prompty slipped on the juice and went SPLAT. It was a bad day.

But was it bad enough to have me cruise through 2 Aid Grimel earrings with my only failures being one on the smithing part of the JC and 3 of the party platter attempts? Maybe. But it sure as hell does not compensate for FarWater Boots, Livestone Plate Breastplate, and FIVE Stonewood compound bows.

I have sucked all the luck out of the universe. If you have a bad run, it is more than likely my fault.

I am so going to pay for this someday.

My gnome (Intelligence of 232) has reached 201 just by restocking my Bazaar trader with a few Geerloks and collapsed containers. I don't know how long this skilling-up is going to last, but I'm enjoying it.
