  • Tunare vs Karrana fletching

KK - as a WE ranger that worships Tunare I could make and use all the Tunare bows and arrows.

If I was a WE ranger of Karrana, I would have still been able to make and sell the Tunare bows and arrows, but not use them.

Then I'd get this new Karrana only fletching which only I as a worshiper of Karrana can combine for both profit and skilling, yet still be able to make Tunare bows and arrows.

And I'd get a cheap and easy skill path to 188 smithing to boot.

Erf - ah well, gratz Karrana worshipers.
    Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

Yup, I'm sure both Karana worshipping wood elf Rangers across all the servers have congratulated each other.

    Still, It's nice.

    By the way. One R.

There aren't even 2 karana worshipping woodelf rangers across all servers. Woodelf rangers and druids are locked in on Tunare no other choice, just as Halfling rangers and druids can only choose Karana. Why Woodelf warriors and bards are allowed to worship karana i'm not certain, but for all the good it does them they're welcome to it. If you want to gripe about something, my Human Karana Paladin and Enchantress now have bows to make, in addition to Heraldic armor, and a smithing path to skip fine plate on the way to Imbued Field Plate, which is by far the easiest cultural smithing path.
For me, it balances out because my Vah Shir Shamaness still has no cultural armor of any kind to make or wear. But we'll leave that dead horse alone for now.

        Lilosh is correct.

Wood Elf rangers are limited to Tunare for a choice of god, same with Druids. I.E. We have no choice in the matter.

Humans and Half Elves both have the choice of Tunare or Karana.

        Halflings can only follow Karana.

As for the easy skill up path? Take advantage of it while you can, if you can. I agree with Lilosh that it's an 'adjustment' waiting to happen.

          I'll say.

After my last fine plate smithing skill-up attempt (20 attempts, no skill-ups, and failures on at least a quarter of them), I was pretty annoyed. It wasn't so much the lack of skill-ups, but the failures that cost cash. I'd be very happy with as inexpensive a skill-up path as these arrows seem to be.

Unfortunately, I'm an Erudite, and thus left with nearly nothing in the way of realistic cultural skill increases.

Back when they came out with the Tunare fletching, I got up to 250 skill on the arrows with little hassle (just a lot of plat). I also made a half elf karana ranger, put all my wis gear on him and got him to 202 fletching in a couple of hours.

He eventually became a PoP tradeskill junk mule, because it was obvious they hated Karana worshippers and had no intention on doing diddly-squat for them.

About a YEAR later (/rude SOE) they come up with Karana fletching. *boggle*.

So yesterday, I decide to start making this stuff. Read the post about it, make some quick notes and head out.

The fletching kit is NO-DROP?!?!?! /rude SOE

What the heck is this Mark thing? Tunare fletching doesnt have this. /rude SOE

Drop my wis gear back on him and get his smithing up to 115. Ill zerg it from there. Well over an hour wasted on that.

Managed to luck out and make both the kit and knife first attempt.

Made a bunch of fletches and shafts no problem. Still annoyed about this stupid mark.. and the no-drop fletching kit.

(Tunare fletchers can have 0 smithing skill to make their arrows. its not required (tho it does help a lot). You can buy all the components and the kit from someone else, so why twist the knife that you firmly planted in the back of Karana a year ago?)

So now i have to make the blessed arrow heads. Get down to the karanas to forage pebbles (another chunk of time wasted, Tunareans can BUY emeralds... twist that knife, SOE) get a pal to Imbue em, and i figure id have better success with me at 188 smithing to make the shards. Pebble+file = .... NO-DROP SHARDS?!?!??!?!? /rude rude rude rude rude rude (and i went 3/5 to boot!)

What the hell is the point of no-drop shards when the arrowheads they make are DROPABLE?!? /rude SOE morons

Ive gotten pretty livid at this point.

/ooc for plains pebbles and a *saint* replies they have 5 that are already imbued they dont need. /cheer /hug

And of course the 115 smith goes 5/5 on the shard combines. /rude RNG

My intention was to make up 20 combines and zerg my way into 1 or 2 successes for 10 or 20 arrows

Unfortunately the arrowheads triv MUCH higher than 115, and i end up going 2/20 with a total of 4 arrowheads for 4 attempts.

And i go 0/4 on arrows.

SOE, what the hell was the point in 1. the mark and 2. making so many things no-drop?
Tunare fletchers didnt need a 'mark'... the mechanics omn making a combine deity restricted were already in the game. The mark is a big freekin waste of time (not to mention the mark is pointlessly EATEN on a failed arrowhead combine, forcing you to get bags and bags of the stupid things). Oh, and the combine also eats the FILE, so you have to make bags and bags of those too. /rude SOE

Tunare fletchers dont HAVE to be a 200 skill smith. They can subcontract/buy the smithed items, including their DROPABLE kit.

Tunare fletchers dont HAVE to run thru 4 zones (PoK, qeynos, Qeynos hills, Surefall) to get the materials. They can do EVERYTHING from ground zero to finished product in 2 zones, Felwithe and Kelethin.

Why do you hate Karana worshipers so much? Why did you even bother with the Karana Fletching? It was a YEAR too late and so POORLY implemeted its just mind-boggling.

Either make the construction of Tunare Fletching and Karana Fletching IDENTICAL, or just dont insult us by bothering.

4 hours of my life wasted... *sigh*

ok, the shards are only needed for the blessed arrows. I was making the non deity restricted ones as more of my friends and the bazaar could absorb the ones I made.

                But for the rest....
If you find it that hard, I will hardly complain, as it only means fewer fletchers competing with me on these particular recipes. I have enjoyed meeting a couple new people while smithing in Surefall(if they are bothering to smith in Surefall, there's a 99% chance they worship Karana these days. LOL) and talking about the recipes.
I run nearly everywhere anyways, so the run from PoK to surefall is only an extended chance to find real newbies and buff them with everything I have(funny, I don't get the, "Your spell did not take hold," message in Qeynos Hills for some reason. ROFL). The newbies here are polite! I don't remember so many polite folk when I was growing up here! People are saying, "Thank you!"(well, except for the ones too new to know how yet. LOL) and not begging for gear! I like running through this area. I healed someone up after they dispatched Fippy to the great beyond yesterday. It is so good to be home. =)
The mark is fine by me...it is a method of making it deity restricted rather than race restricted, and I am so happy they didn't give it only to Halfling rangers(did you not think of that as a possibility? I did...THAT would have made me scream).
All in all, i am happy. I have new tradeskills that I am working on( that I actually get to see skillups on!) and the hunts this week have gone well. Life is good(prepares for the other shoe to drop.....INCOMING!)

                =)

Let me get this straight Slunge. Your a karana worshipper and your complaining that

                  a) they gave you a better fletching skillup path
                  and
                  b) they gave you a better smithing skillup path

                  /boggle

i agree its poorly thought out but it sounds like your getting the short end of the stick when your not
