Well, after spending the day in the bazaar, in trader mode, I finally had more than enough money to go out and get me a little lizard. I got the small black one. He's kinda cute.

I went to EK to gather silks from the spiders, some of the crags still con light blue. I did not notice too much of the bobbing that you are talking about, I am a halfling, probably makes all the difference. I also noticed the start and stop lag that you mentioned also. However, nobody mentioned that I couldn't forage while on the thing. I also had a few problems looting and targeting. Sometimes when I tried to target something, put the sursor on it and click, I would wind up targeting myself.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed using it. The medding ability is nice, especially since my wisdom at lvl 31 is 240.

Thanks for all of the helpfull information.

I finally spent the AA and got my horse.

I love it. its VERY fast! awesome for traveling. in fact, 90% of the time thats what I use it for.
other 10% is when farming and the crack wears off I just Pact of Hate then summon the horse, then continue farming with a mana regen better than C3 and no HP loss (only time Troll Regen has really been a benefit).
I dont melee on a horse in a group situation. I already have to deal with the whining from all the other runts to shrink the Troll, I can imagine their pathetic cries if I do melee with my horse. Only time I melee with my horse is if I'm soloing or farming.
its also soulbound. so when on a CR, I can still summon my horse.

Things I dont like about the horse.
Cant bash/slam in melee (i suspect that for large races it acts like an illusion so thats why I cant 2H Bash. Later when I get the 2H bash AA I can verify this)
Levitate (for me, bobbing corpse) and horse doesnt mix to well. for example, last nite I went to help a guildy get he VS in KC for epic. Of course I'm gonna race to KC from the wizzy spires with my horse (and it was a blast too ). anyways, by the time I reached KC I was still extremely high up in the air. I had to circle around like a 747 slowly getting down to ground level. in hindsight I could have /dismount but where is the fun in that?

Oh yea, the head bobbing while mounted isnt an issue for me. It rather feels a bit "normal" and what I would expect if I was actually riding a horse.

Zeralenn: I disagree with you for using mounts for traveling. many raid mobs are heavily contested so it basically becomes a race to which guild gets there first. Not everyone gets SoW cast on them and the amount of peeps that wont spend the 85pp (or whatever) for the SoW potions is staggering. Already there has been times where I RAN to the raid target using Horse/PoK books and still arrived before those that got ported.

But its your plat. spend it however way you will. If you just want it for medding than the cheapo horse/lizard is the way to go. For non-SoW classes that want to reduce traveling time (along with the mana regen of course), buy a more expensive one.

I am an erudite Wizard or an Ogre Shaman... What is foraging ???

Of course I know what foraging is... but with those characters skills at foraging I have never once tried foraging from a horse for some reason

As a druid, i had a horse originally, back in the days where you didnt have to SEE the bloody thing when you used it, was very happy with my horse.
Then they changed that, and forced me to both use new models, and see the horse. Took me around 15 sec of riding to decide to sell the stupid thing. Then i met a wizard on a drogmor, and he told me the head wasnt in the way on a drogmor, so went and bought one (after 40 min of trying to choose one out in the kennel, theyre all so cute), and havent regretted eating those few K that the horse to drogmor change cost me.

The problems with mounts for druids:
Eat a LOT of food (i actually got metabolism 3 for that, help a LOT)
You cant forage (dont matter if you like me made MTPs for skilling up in baking, got 3 stacks in bank still)
You cant beg (i know not many people know this, but i traing begging, have to get down from drogmor to sit behind the mob and beg from it)
They take up a LOT of space. Go get a shrink device to fix that problem. Im ALWAYS shrinked when in a group.

The good things about mounts for druids:
Mana regen. When im in Cheal chain i can last almost 100% longer than without a drogmor. They SO need to make them useable indoors .
No sit aggro. This is a LIVESAVER. Even if you say you never run out of mana, theres no excuse for not getting a mount for this. The meelees will love you for it.

1 not mentioned difference between drogmors and horses:
You turn faster on a drogmor. Same run/slow down speed, but when turning, drogmors are around in the middle area between horses and no mount. Turn speed DOES matter.

              Hmmm... let's see.... never.

              But, there are things that you should be able to get, for example;

Fruit - picked off of a tree, possibly a bush. If you're getting it off of the ground, most likely it will be rotten.

Berries - also off of bushes and vines, depending on the variety, could easily be reached on horse back.

Tea leaves - again, depending on what type of plant they are coming from.

Emerald orange - again, off of trees.

So, I think certain things would be "forageable" on horse/drogmar back.

Correct me if I am wrong but...do you really need to turn the pet/horse model option on in order to use a horse?

I am planning soon to get one, but unfortunately my laptop slowdown horribly when I have any velious+ model on.

If I cant even use a horse/drogmar I would better save my money for something else.

From what I've heard that's right, you need your race&gender's model on, as well as the "Horses and Elementals" on, to use a horse.

I so wish they would just make it into a straight buff, that *happens* to have a graphic, rather than a graphic that happens to give benefits <sigh>
