  • What do you do 'for fun'?

Insipred from another thread (Bard Bows in the fletching category), some people seem to enjoy having odds and end items that throw people a curveball. One person mentioned a 1HB item that looks like a book etc..

What do you all enjoy doing?

I'm a rogue, and my idea of "fun" can be quite different from other people.

A few mon ths ago I purchased an Iksar Hide Mask mainly so I would not be KOS in Calabis, but gave me one additional advantage..

I can be an Iksar Rogue.

My time in Rathe Mountains has never been as much fun before with all the "How can you be an Iksar Rogue???" Seems not many people know about the mask, and since the illusion masks are ROG / BRD only....

A week ago, my trader mule had a very **VERY** good day, and I was able to afford the Mask of Obtenation (sp?). Illusion: Erudite. I can be a dual wielding, backstabbing, pick pocketing Erudite now. Oh, I just can't wait to really try that one out!

Bet you've never seen an Erudite backstab or poison its prey...

Hark! Who is that, prowling along the fields! It is Draggar De'VIr, hands clutching two hardened pitas! He cries gutterally: "In the name of Thor the Mighty, I hereby void your warranty, and send you back to God!!!"

    heheh, cute.

honestly, in what itty bitty free time i have, i gate 'home' (gfay) and peruse the vendors for the stuff i need for the Regren KelMerchant faction quest. I educate the noobs in what CR is, where CB is, why they should sell me their silks-spiderling eyes-wolf pelts-bat furs, caution them to avoid PKing in home zones, offer to make armor or give away the Regren armor... When I was starting to bake, I was offering cooked food trades in return for foraged items.

I've earned the slightly dubious title 'Denmother of GFay'. I say dubious because I wonder if really deserve such an honor. ^_^.

Once, when i should have been on CR, I was teaching a young paladin the tricks of the trade, and healing her while she ran around from a mini train of wasps. 'No, come BACK to the book. I can heal you.' Heal-oor, Heal-oor, Heal-go through! It was hilarious. That particular stunt earned me officership in my guild.

Gfay, many good memories. Even on a PKing server ^_^.

Let's see ... right now I'm working on Cabilis faction so I can walk the streets of Cabilis openly as a Dark Elf ... it's also so I can do the Greenmist quest, but the idea of banking in Cabilis actually makes it MORE fun for me. I'm now up to walking around most parts of Cabilis, but I still need necro faction (My halfling druid wants to be the next one in Cabilis). now that I know how to do it reasonably efficiently.

Also for a DE shadowknight's idea of fun -- I kill Sargeant Slate and Jimble Woodentoe every time I see them. Neither are any threat any more, but they killed me too many times as a youngling. (Oh, and I like to go after Bait Masterson sometimes).

My gnome cleric carries around "tall people" potions she can use in dungeons like Sol B and Crystal Caverns where it can be hard to get around as a gnome, but she has been known to use them just to confuse people. (A Vah Shir cleric? A Barbarian cleric? You be the judge...)

Nothing very original, but those are my "fun" pursuits.

        Hmm, the oft-elusive "fun" ...

On pranks, I think the best one I ever pulled was telling a buddy that *their own alt* had suggested that [my newborn character] could ask them for advice. I never asked anything else, just advice.

Confused 'em mightily for the longest time!

We both had a good laugh over it after I "fessed up" who else I played. :P

I've been surprised by how many folks don't even know about the DE mask. Kinda fun to be a DE bard when folks aren't expecting it ... double-takes are interesting on the toon level, and I can just imagine the funny faces the "characters behind the toons" are displaying!

I also find it mildly entertaining to dress a character in a manner unusual for their class. Then go /role, and see how many folks guess incorrectly.

That works especially well with my DE illusionist. She wears an old-world cultural chain tunic (that she made herself), black chitin leggings (plate look), Efreeti boots (plate look), golden chitin wrist bands (plate look), and leather-look sleeves and helm. I dyed her arms and wrists to match her tunic (darkish reddish-purple), left chest slot undyed, and dyed everything else a dark teal.

Most frequent guess? She's taken for a Rogue. And she can do the illusions to enhance that misconception ...

Oh my, I am bad! ops:

I recently descovered that the fungal fiend dewclaw is equippable by *all* classes. Including Cleric. So I put that in my Vicar's primary hand (though she can't hit the broad side of a barn with it, clerics get no piercing skill), leave her blinky shield on, put a robe on her, and go /role. And get asked for KEI. :P

Borrowing a suggestion from another buddy, when I get asked if they can have KEI, I answer: "Probably. Go ask that enchanter over there, I'm too young." :P

        *whistles innocently*

"And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming ... "

When smalltim was a wee lad of 16 or so, I would go over to Paladual, and shout

          "Level 16 Dwarvish Enchanter LFG".

Or barbarian, or... you get the idea.

And every so often, I would boggle someone's mind when they groups with a Wood Elf who could mez, and haste them. Or an Ogre who charmed a bandit.

            What I want to do:

Obtain Perserved Chokadai Vocal Cords (they have Voice Graft and can be used by an enchanter).

Get my level 58 Ench several more AAs (and a few more levels) and get Dire Charm.

Then run around newb cities DCing guards and carrying on conversations with whoever passes by. Or DC Emporor Crush. Or other such infamous mobs.

I *so* want those vocal cords. I saw one for sale once, but 30k just seemed way too much.

I enjoy. . .tag. Minta can be heard shouting in most zones after checking the zone list and seeing a friend/guildmate/gnome/necro/person with cool dye/person with no relation whatsoever. . .TAG! You're it *giggles*hides*! It's great to join a random group and then have someone realize, "Hey, you're that person who goes around tagging everyone aren't you!" Minta sings child's songs with EQ verses through /shout, she squeals about NO EATING GNOMIES and the gnome rogue wearing (Eeeeek!) GNOMIESKIN ARMOR! She plays leapfrog over the frogloks, talks to trolls in troll, scorns worshippers of the Kissy Face Cootie Goddess an' the Even More Gross 'cause He's a Boy Cootie God, and distributes pixystix at a whim.

              An orc song:

Orcs are smelly, Orcs are stinky, Orcs are gonna go extincty!

              About the Karanas:

It's raining, it's pouring, an' medding is boring,
I went to bed with no mana in my head an' I hope I am full up by morning!

              A shardwurm song:

Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, gonna go kill some wurms, Long thin youngly ones, wriggly squirmy elder ones, gotta kill lotsa wurms!

              Gobbie songs!

              Deep inside Mount Droooooooooga,
              All covered in fleeeeeeeeas,
              I lost my poor skellllllllllie,
              When some gobbie sneeeeeezed.

It ran out from the caaaaampsite,
              And out through a dooooooor,
              An' then my poor skelllllllie,
              Was spread 'cross the flooooor.

If you hunt in Mount Drooooooga,
              An' staying up laaaaaate,
              Please learn from poor skelllllllie,
              An' don't let shammies gaaaaaaaaate.

Used to run round with my druid wearing a robe, people kept asking me for clarity and then got really confused when I then cast SoW on them.

I was also recently sat in PC casting breeze as a Troll Enchanter.

                Caused much laughter

Hadda check the post again to make sure I didn't write it.

After an.... unsalubrious parting from my guild, I spent an entire level, alone, in Scarlet Desert, my only problem being an incessant craving for Cheetos (mmm...scarlet cheetah!) and enjoying the heck out of the occasional rez for passersby.

Don't know that I'll join a guild again for a long time; honestly, there's nothing they could possibly have to offer me that's worth the grief.

On the bright side, I did have a funny that last night.. seems a guildy of mine was apparently too stupid to think about asking the guild for smithing help before /ooc'ing (hm, it's only guild policy, it's only skillups for the guild smith, right?).. and after getting no responses, since it was a cultural question, he /who all dwarf and asked the first dwarf in the zone.

Said dwarf checked friends list and replied, "I have a smithing skill of zero. But if you need help, why don't you ask the best smith I know, who is in YOUR GUILD?"

Since I was hot in tells with this friend, I went ahead and /gu'ed "Why'd you ask a random dwarf for smithing help instead of your guild?"

                    "Uh, because it's dwarven cultural"

"You didn't pay any attention when I mentioned...'close personal friend' of Nhinx, Nhin the dwarven cleric, now did you?"

                    "Uh, no..."

ok, I admit it. Cleric-spanking idiots is my joy in life.

Heh.."for fun" I actually hunt down those monsters that I feel killed me in annoying and undeserving manners when I was younger and less experienced.

It always makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I can look at a corpse from something that now Cons green to me and say "How does the shoe fit now you b*****d??"

I earned my surname of 'Gnollcharmer' way back in the day on Prexus by wandering outside Qeynos, charming gnoll pups, and then leading them into the city. I'd find a nice corner somewhere, park 'em down, then break charm. One blur later, and you've got a very confused gnoll wandering deep in the enemy stronghold! (I'd always watch to make sure it didn't start mauling a newbie before a guard spotted it).

Lately, on E'ci, I've found that the Tiny Companion spell offers even more random fun. I've grown fond of charming static spawns, shrinking them down tiny, then breaking and blurring. Got 2/3 of the wedding party on the 5th floor of ToFS shrunken down before leaving last time

                          Beer-art.

                          1) I started a gnome cleric of Brell, just for the nifty symbols. Second one summons free ale.

So if you see a picture drawn in beer on the ground, Nohrm was there.

                          2) Minory illusion. Most recent favorites?
                          a) Turned into a bag. Wait and see how many people try to pick you up.
                          b) Turned into the bank sign on PoK. Stand near the big bank on POK and cast minor illusion. You turn into this big floating sign. People can walk under you, with out running into anything. Watch them stare at you.

                          3) Cross things off of the "THINGS THAT MUST BE KILLED" (said in a loud, echoing voice) list.
                          Fippy Darkpaw - check
Sand Giant - check (train to docks)
Seargent Slade - haven't worked up the nerve yet.
and too many more to list here

When raiding, I needed to turn off as many graphics as possible so as to be able to see. That included turning off people's names, which after you've raided with a guild for a while, you can recognize people by their race, gender and armor/gear.

Well, everyone has some form of illusion item, especially the larger races, so you had to memorize those too.

Would be so funny to watch the large race melee switch between dark elf, halfing, wood elf, half elf during a single raid - who is that again? =)
