“I bumped into Gerald Ford the other day. I said, ‘Pardon me.’ He said, ‘I don’t do that anymore.”'

This is a *GREAT* joke. :-)

            Bob Hope

            /sighs sadly

He did well, making many smile. And he did it without putting anyone down. A lesson some current comedians would do well to learn.

It says something, also, that his family and close work associates were there to see him off. Not everyone inspires that kind of loyalty and devotion.

100 years is a good run. If I were healthy, I could hope to do as well.

My grandfather was born the exact same day, in the exact same year, as Bob Hope. Unfortunately my grandfather only made it to 98.

              Heh, "only" 98.

Man, can you image the changes they've seen during their lifetime? Computers. Televisions. Radios. Cars. Humans landing on the moon (I was born in 1971).

Not to mention all the politcal changes in the world.

I agree about the "what people have seen" sentiment. My great grandmother died at 99, but she was born in 1891. Just think, to have been born while the best mode of transport was a buggy and leave to see the space shuttle... amazing idea.
