  • Who says EQ has no ending?

My first few steps long ago landed me in the Surefall Glade moat. I spent my first 45 minutes of life there treading water in the dark, wondering, why on earth would anyone want to play this awful game?

Once assisted from the cool waters, I began a trek that devoured countless hours and exhaustive commitment. And rather than being at yet another crossroad, I come to the end of Norrath and prepare to leap off.

Although I have come to this Land's edge before, there is no turning back this trip. My finger tips no longer have the desire, and my mind lacks even the patience to click the "Shortcut to Everquest" icon, so I bid you all a farewell.

The first time I quit was after a fallout with the guild leader. He thought EQ was more important than my 2 DAY old daughter. I told him I'd cross the flaming river of Styxx in a gas tanker before I'd place anything ahead of my daughter. He didn't understand, and called me a "dissapointment" and that I "let him down."

Six months later I logged on again with new aspirations. I would become a GM smith. I garnered the final 37 points needed and made my full suit of Salubrious Heraldic. /camp.

One month later I log in and decide getting filthy rich would be a worthwhile goal. I preceeded to make well over a million plat and twinked, PLed and lavished all my friends with shiny new toys.

There is no more fun in having money, tradeskilling and certainly not in XP grinding. The only enjoyment comes from the people I have journeyed to this point with.

Thank you EQtraders for being the only resource necessary during my stay. You helped me get everything to 200 and one to 250, and would have done more if I my craftsman wasn't level 38

    Fairest Journeys,
    ~Fallwell

Aye, I know the feeling, I have it right now too. Gl with whatever you decide to play next, NWN is pretty good offhand

Well, if you are feeling generous when you do finally leave, I would be more than happy to help you "distribute" your wealth (server depending)

Seriously, I enjoy the game, and have good friends that i play with, some RL ones too. It does make the game more fun. I have died a couple times cause I had to quick run AFK to take care of my daughter. It's just a game, and I can get that exp back.
IF I had been in your position, I would have told that jerk GL where to go, what to do when he got there, then proceeded to do /guildremove and look for better friends to play with.

Wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

I'm astonished that *anyone* would have the nerve to even *try* to lay a guilt trip on someone for looking after their own children ... over a GAME. /boggle

Yeah, this game can be absorbing ... and a nice cheap vacation from your everyday routine. But it's exactly that - a *vacation.* It is not, and never will be, more important than "real life." Anytime there's a conflict, and real life isn't the clear winner, someone is confused.

I "burn out" periodically, and take vacations from EQ also. I have friends that I met in EQ that became RL friends also ... and others that didn't transition out so well, but remain in game friends.

If EQ has ceased to be a source of enjoyment for you, then I hope that either RL or some other entertainment rises to take its place.

Take good care of your young "halfling." There you have a treasure beyond price, and beyond anything you could ever hope to find in EQ.

May you find your real life adventures at least as satisfying as any you experienced in game.
