  • REALLY looking forward to Champions of Norrath

Don't get me wrong...I really enjoyed EQ while my hubby and I played.

But with a child now, there's just no time for hours and hours of regular play with guild raids and such.

And while it won't be the online experience, (or the same graphical) we're really looking forward to this PS/2 version.

So we'll have to get another PS/2, but hey, heres hoping it'll be fun, and something like EQ

(Also hoping its first-person - sounds like it is)

Champions of Norrath is 3/4 isometric view... like Diablo or (more appropriately) Baldur's Gate (at least from what I've seen in the article I read... this is the only point I'm not positive about).

You get to choose one of five race/class combinations. Wood Elf Ranger. Dark Elf Shadowknight. Barbarian Warrior. Erudite Wizard. High Elf Cleric. That's it. the storyline is you're defending Kelethin from a combined orc/goblin assault. Which means...

...a knight of Innoruuk is defending the city of Tunare's children from orcs and goblins.

(Let me add right now, this makes NO SENSE to me...)

You get skill and attribute points to assign as you level... so you'll be able to raise your strength, intelligence, dexterity, or stamina (since those are the ONLY attributes) if you want after character creation.

Basically, this game sounds as much like EQ as Dance Dance Revolution, but hey, what do I know? Maybe they'll go for a bare-bones overhaul before release....

Yes, it would make a lot more sense if they replaced the shadowknight with any race of paladin, or perhaps a human monk. Or make a good set and an evil set and have the evil set defend someplace else... hmm.

LOL No, that really doesn't make much sense....

Well, Baldurs gate is a pretty decent game, but I really prefer 1st person view...really pefer it.

Hmm...it seems like Sony might just not wanto deliver something too close to EQ without making you pay monthly on it

Anyone know of any games (PS\2 or PC) that might scratch that EQ itch - without going online?

            Morrowind?
Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

You'd like to think that, wouldn't you?

It would make sense. Unfortunately, sense seems to be the furthest thing from their minds on this.

Yes, the DE SK is a player character. And yes, s/he works to defend Kelethin (and its leader... hold on, Kelethin has a leader now?) from the orcs and goblins. I still say somebody missed a memo.

"By Innoruuk's Hate, I shall defend Kelethin with my last-- wait, I'm supposed to do who with the what now?"

                Maybe it's an agnostic shadowknight.

And yeah, Morrowind is a good standin for EQ
