  • And the final main character is!

As some of you know. I'm planning to make three main characters instead of one. The reason was I've met many people that just burnt out on their characters because they just couldn't stand doing the same stuff over, and over, and over again. So instead of just one I had decided to play 3. I figured a nice array of characters would be nice. =)

    Right now I have.

    Sithro the Mage! Level 32

I love my mage because of his different pet abilities. My favorite summoning spell is Summon Water Stone... Lets me explore the deeps. Also not he is the main main... As in the first and most loved. = )

    Gothus the Necromancer! Level 20

This character is so much fun! I love the fear kiting thing and I love being able to regen mana quicker. Also the fact that I'm small! And girls love my lil funny attitude! =P

And the last one was undecided. But lately I'm seriously leaning to the Druid. The Druid looks fun, he can ware armor and have cool weapons, he can teleport. And best of all... Like Gothus and Sithro, they can solo!

I was wondering if you guys would help me out. How do you actually start a Druid and what are they good at?

Are they as fun as I here?

    Thanks a bunch fellas!

Why play 3 different soloing classes, and the 2 probably least desired for groups?

Try a shaman. Good soloers, strong in groups.

Aye. Druids excel at NOT getting groups. Pre-58, anyway

It's our specialty. But on the bright side, at least they're constantly taking away the experience for soloing!!!

        Shaman, hands down.

Nothing like being the class that can solo dragons without having to wear elemental armor...

Actually there's a few other classes that did it before PoP Higar. I know a SK did, I believe necros as well, and a few others I'm forgetting.

I would wager it has probably been done by a druid or enchanter.

Don't they solo everything? Or is that only since PoP?

An enchanter COULD. Possibly has, though charm wasn't all that before PoP - AE groups were the hot thing. Druids can't solo summoning mobs - maybe with PoP charms, but it's way too dicey, though Western Wastes is a good place to try. I think a bard also soloed Yeldema - there's lots of beefy pets out there for an enterprising bard to use.

I like druids. In fact, my first character was a druid. And I agree that having multiple characters to play is a good thing. But realize that doing so will eat up a lot of money. So instead of having one character with a lot of good gear, you’ll have three characters with so so gear. And you will level much slower. But as someone with a 51 druid, 51 ranger and a 57 shaman, I can say its certainly helped keep up my interest in the game. And now I may be getting interested in playing a beastlord. Oh well, I didn’t need great equipment anyway. *grins*

Which classes to play is completely dependent upon your personality. I like being able to buff people and help them if they are over their heads. So playing characters with stat buffs, SoW and heal spells works well for me. I also like playing a class that can either group or solo. And so far all three of my characters can do that. One thing I might suggest you do is consider some diversity. I leveled my druid and my ranger at almost the same time. If I felt like casting spells I’d play my druid. But if I felt like beating the crap out of a mob I’d play my ranger. You might think about playing a melee type character as well for the diversity. Rangers are a fun class to play, but if you like pets you might think about ether a shaman or a beastlord. If you play a shaman expect to play the part of a caster in a group. Your haste and slow spells will make you very popular in a group, but you wont’ get much of a chance to duke it out, as it were. But those same haste and slow spells will allow you to melee a lot of different mobs. And though not very tough until level 61, your spirit pet is great at biting the butts of those same mobs, killing them even faster. I’ve only played a beastlord to level ten, I just started playing him a couple of days ago, but I think he’s going to be a lot of fun. I have combat skills, slow spells and a pet. What more could I ask? *grins* So if you think you might like to play a melee type there are several hybrids that can solo as well as group. And beating a mob about the head and shoulders is a great way to work out frustrations.
