You memory doesn't serve. They never said that there was going to be player-made charms. There was a phrase in the description of charms that some decided to interpret as implying that there would be, but that was a mistaken interpretation by players, not a broken promise by the game designers. If anything, blame the people who poorly worded the description of charms on the LoY promotional page. But there was never a statement by SoE that explicitly stated that there would be player-made charms.

To those who whatever reason don't want to group (or feel they can't), this next expansion isn't for you. Just don't get it. Nobody's forcing you to.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with encouraging grouping. That's the whoe point of the game, after all (what the "MM" in "MMORPG" stands for!).

If you're on Povar look me up... I make no distinction regarding classes unless I abolutely need a specific Role filled (eg. I absolutely HAVE to have a slower/haster...)

Part of playing is finding people that are willing to play with you no matter what class you are. for the longest time I grouped with 3 other people on a regular basis from 30 to 50 myself a paladin, a cleric, a rogue, and another paladin. Far from an ideal group but learning how to use each others strengths and weaknesses we took on stuff and had fun...

I guess I' m an exception in this game in that I am not as discriminatory on who I group with (Class wise... personality is a WHOLE Different issue).
actually thats not true... I dislike monks but thats because they are a Pet class of Verant... but I will still group with em.

If you are having problems getting a group you're asking the wrong people and if your guild won't help you and give back to you, then they aren't the right guild for ya..

but thats my 2 cp and if we all cashed in our 2cp from this thread we'd prolly have about 5 silver right now and that just might buy one bandage....

EDIT: I don't want to come across as being insensitive and a jerk, I know that about 99% of the people out there probably have only 1 or 2 people they group with regularly and don't have the kind of setup I do at home. But I have also been through the 2 hour stretch of shouting "Paly Seeking Employment PST!!" traveling Zone to zone. thats why I now have 8 toons and have deleted and remade numerous others. just so I can get in some quality play time...

Reading over it some more, I have to say the one part I dislike the most is the idea that there will be no respawn in the dungeons. For one, does it really matter if my group goes to an instanced dungeon and decide to sit in one spot? Secondly, part of what makes dungeon crawls interesting and dangerous is the respawn. You need to keep moving to ensure you don't get too many mobs at one time.

Honestly, I'm a little upset on how they are setting up the zones as well. The way it sounds is that there will be 5 new areas to zone into (one near Everfrost, one on G Fay, one in Innotule/Feerrott, and two in the desert) that will split off into 8 other zones. I was sort of hoping this expansion would give me a reason to travel around Norrath more. I also sort of wish it wasn't just limited to the Old World. There are a lot of dungeons in Kunark and Velious I would've loved to see added onto. Well, maybe in the future.

Oh, and lostdungeonsofnorrath.com was updated on Monday. It doesn't really include anything we don't already know from the GameSpy article unfortunately nor when we'll see any. Regarding tradeskills it says, "Learn hundreds of rewarding new tradeskill recipes." on the Features page. There are some neat screenshots and concept art up.

Lilosh would you like to move servers? I just can't fathom that. On Fennin my cleric has a perma group with a druid. Half the time she can replace me, and she's 51 to my 50. On the Tribunal (my primary server), I'm the guildleader of a small guild. My husband and I both two box, so we do always have a group. However, that's a new occurrence and I have very vivid memories of my early years (I've been playing since 99) and first guild, of my warrior needing a group. If a guildmate logs on and we aren't already way too deep to get them, we bring them in to our group and drop one or more of our alts. (Or use /raid if we think we need everyone, but that's really for areas we are way over our head in). We're a very social guild.

My guild is fairly social, but as of late, I am saddened.

With the unflagging of the planes, a slight rift has occasionally opened.

All the 58-62 People who used to exp with me in PoN recently, have now moved up to PoV. Including Our Main Tank, and the main shaman, enchanter, and mage who were always around. :-)

The guild has a large number of level 30-40 people. No real help there.

Usually we dont have the people required to start a PoN group, and nobody ever wants to go to the Zones I like to exp and get loot in (The two I mentioned in my last post).

So yeah, I solo a lot. Am I still in the wrong game?

I am attempting to solve this problem by growing my own warrior, so to speak. A friend of mine started a Character on Povar, and Ogre Warrior. He is twinked with a full suit of Fierce Heraldic , and a Windblade. He hit 41 on sunday, and should be 46+ by the end of this weekend.

By lord, I will have my own tank. :-) Just need to bulk him up with a few more levels.

But other then growing my own Enchanter/Cleric/Whatever, it'll be just he and I duoing. So I suppose I might need to get 3 more levels somehow for my CH.

Just to prove that we all view things differently, I really like the idea that mobs won’t respawn in dungeons. Back in the late seventies when I first started playing AD&D, I always hated the games that had a room with five orcs, a room with a pack of wolves and a room with a dragon all next door to each other. That kind of dungeon never made any sense to me. If you started the timer on that dungeon and came back five minutes later I bet the only thing left alive would be the dragon.

The same holds true for monsters being reborn in the same spot no mater how many times you kill them. It works find for computer games like Balder’s Gate and it works well enough in games like EQ. But it completely lacks any realism. I would never write anything like that for my players. So I’m looking forward to adventuring in a dungeon that’s one step closer to being what I think a dungeon really should be like.

Feel the power of the dark side. Imagine if you 2 boxed and never had to worry about finding a tank. Mmmm. You know you want to...

If you mean that it has no attack value...

                      um... it is Ceremonial...

Many ceremonial weapons were made of gold or other VERY soft metals that if you were silly enough to use it as a weapon it would not be much worse than hitting somone with a hickory stick... sure it hurts... but not much more than that. Against somoene in armor you would do NOTHING... even leather armor... AND you have ruined a perfectly prety item.

Ceremonial armor was so soft or thin you could punch a person with bare hands and hurt the person wearing the armor as much as you hurt your hand.

This is meant as a FLUF item, to tease with the stats... but to have no use.

Now don't go saying the ceremonial dagger has an attack value... well um... that was used in a VERY different ceremony... no need to go into details there.

the only thing I MIGHT see is to add secondary slot to it...

Or is this used in some quest that I don't know about.
Actually, it's been stated that it's used in some quest... however, it's also been stated that there are hundreds of Quests that are unsolved/undiscovered. :?

I checked on both Lucy and Magelo; neither lists any lore info for this item. Does it simply not have any, or has no one bothered identifying it?

Several people taking part in the discussions at Allakhazam claim that Verant says it's purely for looks, hence the no damage / delay numbers. There's also vague rumors of a quest involving it, but those appear to be hoaxes.

Googling on the item name proved fruitless.

I think this expansion sounds wonderful. I get sooo bored of the Dreadlandslike of some of the PoP planes. In essence some of it just lacks context, unless you are in a raiding guild that is forwarding the PoP storyline. Its awesome that we will have more dungeons to crawl And tailor made for your group.. i mean wow that is just awesome.

Yes, perhaps I am quite lucky. I have a regular group that includes a 65 chanter (groupleader), 65 shaman, 65 druid, (we recently lost our 65 sk to real life ) and myself (65 warrior and 65 cleric--i two box is we are short one) with a 63 rogue, 63 necro or 62 ranger adding when they can. We are the type of group that loves to push the envelop and tackle things that most will just never attempt. The fact that we can one group this entire expansion really does appeal to me

No more not being able to do something you want due to plat pharming-ebay sellers... hmmm 4C anyone? Call me crazy but CT is still one of my favorite places as is Chardok and Seb, and now with the xp changes they are viable again and I had tier 3 access b4 the last patch that unflagged some of those planes. Btw, the charm rocks and the AAs were sweet (5 aas and a rocking charm)

Where they got this "original" idea...

Nobody's mentioned this, but the new expansion is pretty much a flat-out rip-off of the Anarchy Online mission system (except without solo missions). Which is kind of funny, since the AO mission system was created as a response/alternative to the EQ camp-a-thons and fighting over spawns, and now it's come full circle.

You are all ignoring the obvious.

How many times have you gone into a zone to find the camps all full, now there isn't any camps, you get a whole zone to play in without any other players to KS or train you.

As far as dieing inthe zone, won't there be some sort of GY where all the bodies of dead adventurers go, like in PoP?

On a down side, the main reason that people don't get PoP groups, is cos you are not a slower, tank or healer and maybe DPS. This is gonna be worse in those dungeons, cos the decision you make at the start is gonna live with you all the way through. No taking a druid until a cleric comes along, so group making will be even slower.
