  • I have a couple questions...

    1. Do you have to pay extra if you have more than one character, if not, how many characters can you have?
    2. Does anyone know of any good Free 3D MMORPGs at or near completion, thanks in advance.

I know next-to-nothing about other MMORPGs, free or otherwise, but I can answer number 1. In EQ you can have hundreds of characters all on the same account, for no additional cost. You are limited to eight characters on a given server, but there are many servers. The exception to this is Firiona Vie, a special server with some different rules designed to further promote role-playing, including a limit to just one character per account on that server. In order to have more characters there you need to buy another account. But there are plenty of other servers without this restriction.

Different characters on the same account cannot interact directly with one another, even if they are on the same server. But they are each completely independent, with no restrictions as a result of having more than one.

Sullon Zek, another "special" server, limits you to 3 characters. Beyond that, its like Verdandi said - 8 characters per "normal" server, 1 character on FV.

There are 45 servers (including FV and SZ) which makes for a lot of potential characters. Like she said, different characters cannot directly interact with each other, and there is no interaction (except for chatting) between servers.

As for #2, I've seen a number of 3D MMORPGs advertised in one way or another, and most have some sort of initial free period (which can widely vary - some do it by time in game, some by progress in game, some by RL days), but I've never seen one that doesn't eventualyl require payment.
