  • Trader help, please

I was just wondering... Is there a way to set something up so that if you have a trader up all night while you are sleeping, that it will repeat a "sales pitch" in the realm of every 5 minutes or so?

    Thanks in advance.

There is, but it will get your account banned if you use it.

      Oh. I thought that maybe you could set up something in your hotkey Kind of like;

/auc "WTS such and such. Located behind the nexus bank. Come check me out"
      /pause 180 seconds
      /repeat

But, if not, that's ok. I could just do a couple of intial auctions before heading off to bed.

      Thanks for the information.

Not only would that be VERY against the rules, It would more then likely be VERY annoying.

I never understood the value of shouting phrases like "New Trader open, I've got stuff you need!!"

Just let people search the bazaar they way it was intended to be searched. /bazaar.

Back when I used to sell consumables every night, I did some fairly extensive testing on this.

When I advertised GLM while watching TV or something every 5 minutes... I'd sell more in an hour than the average 24 hour period unattended.

People are basically impulse buyers. Maybe it doesn't work as well on high end items... and maybe it does.

True enough, but I was thinking of people who do not specificy what they have, and just spam every 2-3 minutes

            I GOT STUFF, COME LOOK.

Which ,granted, isn't what Rewde wants to do, but is something similar.

              hehe

Yes, yes, those ones are annoying

I do admit to looking the trader up in bazaar window once or twice to see what junk they had though, so maybe it does work? hehe

I usually do a "New Trader Up!" when I first hit the bazaar and get a few nibbles right off. There are a lot of permanent traders in the bazaar who will check every trader for items they feel they can make a profit off of.

After that I will auction a few times with specific goods before I go AFK for the night. If you have something in high demand or impulse goods like food or drinks auctioning can be your best friend.

Rare or new items are difficult to move at all except by auctioning. Too many players are just too set in their ways to try something different.

I also do a Now Open announcement, followed by lowest prices on XX. XX, XX. I specialize in tradeskill items like Mammoth Meat, High Quality Brute Hides, etc. I usually do not make an annoucement more than every 15 minutes. I almost always sell out within minutes because I really do offer the lowest prices.

If I don't do an announcement, it takes hours even at the same prices. I think it is partly the impulse buy (plus I know at least one seller that regularly checks me out for SS/Kael armor gems and then marks them up outrageously... well, he sort of stopped that when he realized no one was buying at his prices), partly that it jogs your memory. Maybe you are in the Bazaar for a Tae Ew breastplate, you hear my announcement that I have Morning Dew (or whatever) in stock and you think, well, yeah, my alt needs that too, might as well pick it up while I am here even though I'm not exactly looking for it.

I do a "now open" when I first get set up. Sometimes if I'm sitting on my trader I'll hit it again but that is usually after an hour or so has past. But I all list what I have in that anouncment
