Can you make money tradeskilling

As I am just delving into doing tradeskills, only tailoring to 19, I was wondering what you can make to sell. I have looked at the recipies pages, and obviously most of the stuff at the high end is what appears to be saleable to make money.
For people just getting into this, are there things that we can make along the way to actually sell to people to make money, or are we just making a serious investment of time and money to get to the higher skill levels where the coveted items can be produced?

No, you can't.


If one person will make a profit doing something, then thousands of people will jump on it, killing the market for whatever it is.


Do tradeskills for fun.

If you're satisfied with small (a few gold) profit, you can make money doing very basic stuff. If you want bigger profits, it's harder.

Patchwork armor - if you hunt for the ruined pelts - can be sold to NPC vendors for a little bit more than the cost of the pattern. This has the advantage of working your tailoring.

Leather padding can be sold in the bazaar for a huge profit if you do all the hunting. Average price on my server is 25pp each.

If you bake fish fillets, you can make a small profit. The profit is, naturally, larger if you catch your own fish.

If I recall properly, you're a druid. Many foraged items can be sold to NPC vendors for money to finance your tradeskills. Other items can be sold in the bazaar for money.

So the answer is, yes, you can make money.

one way that works...

If you're ready when something new comes out (armor dyes), or when players suddenly need huge amounts of something (padding for people skilling up to make seru bane weapons), you can make a real killing for a short amount of time, but for the most part you just try to keep your head above water, and hope you can sell the finished product for enough to cover your costs.
