  • Eq Lore on Othmirs?

Does anyone have a link to a good EQ Lore site. I used to have one but cant find it now. Im specifically looking for lore about the othmirs (6 months of farming them and living with the guilt, I feel the need to find out more about them).

    Hmmm otter lore... hmm...

They are great decendents of the mythical Lemming (aka, Sheep to Slaughter). Known for their "bad taste" in music, as well as they assassinating of Bulthar in the Cobalt Scar, these evil little creatures kill heinously without any remorse. All the while playing their happy, merry music and acting like angels..

Mostly, what the lore for them boils down to is a lot of being eaten by walruses and bulthar, as well as Lodizal. They are more or less the oceans prey... similar to shrimp and scallops.

The site I use to go to, I can't find, so I took it upon myself to lighten your guilt.

otters are the spawn of satan. trough their fish and clam genocide they pose a treat to modern eq society. Their continued survival threatens us all.

When some of the earliest ships sailed from the faydarks to velious, they carried upon them several rats, many of which were diseased. Unfortunately, several of those ships wrecked in the bay near the scars of velious. The wreckage of some can still be seen today. Like in modern times, those rats were the first to jump ship and many of them made their way to the sandy beaches. It wasn't long before Bertoxxulos came wandering through and infected all the rats with diseases so vile that it altered their genetic DNA. The resulting offspring were big fat and bloated rats. Then Prexus swam by and relized that this new collection of rodents would make for a wonderful food source for the local bulthars and turtles but in their current condition would be eraticated in only a matter of a couple months. The othmir were in turn changed again and given a social structure that was purely designed for reproduction so as to maintain a stable food supply for the bulthars, ulthorks, and walruses (and the occasional turtles) of the area.

So as you go through the scar killing these sea rats, fret not as they are certain to reproduce at a fast enough pace that their species cannot become extinct. It seems like every time I go there, they've always got another batch of young ratlings ready to fill in the ranks as the older are thinned out.

For those who think these rats are some sort of cute and cudly things, see how much any npc vendor is willing to pay for an expertly made cap made from their (so called) fur.
