  • Revisiting an old friend (AKA. You know you play to much EQ when)...

this thread was a seriously popular one the first go-round 3 years ago.. more than 3/4 of it was lost due to a message board issue... So let's start it going again.

My donation comes from today. I spent part of the day working up my new shammy's alchemy..Hubby needed gate potions, ant potions, and Ds potions.

Hubby and Son #2 who is 13 years old come in from Doctor appointment. Son says "Hey shorty guess what??" I said excuse me? he says I'm 5' 8.5"...

all I could think was.. now which bag did I put those shrink potions in?

copy pasted my post from another thread..
im such an addict that when i wake up .. i /who my house.. when im talking to someone the thought going through my head is "wonder what he/she cons to me" .. when im in a store or sometin i try to open the Find window.. the map.. and the compass..
after going on a tradeskill rampage (i dunno.. 2k combines in a day considered a rampage? XD) when i go to make food i think "please let me not fail and get a skillup"

another one that happened 2 days ago ..
was watching sometin on History channel for some reason, and they are talking about a guy who designed/built a mansion ..
they said.. "He was a master artisan" .. and the first thing i thought was "dam, everyone but me, eh? .. wonder what server hes on" ..
then i realized what i had thought and cracked up laughing

I own a really superb little ice cream shop in Pennsylvania and we do high speed/high volume sales. Most of the stuff is pretty standard of the menu but occasionally we get a complex request/change/substitution to our normal offerings.

I was making a multi-subcombine, high end sundae for a picky customer and I screwed up a minor part of it. I used a rather common 4 letter obscenity (quietly).

My fiancee that also plays EQ and works for me part time asked what was wrong.

"I had all the materials but I fizzled the final combine."

Her terse response: "Should have had Ice Cream Mastery 3 and Salvage, jackass."

Okay, here's some things I've done before...

        * Looked up at the top left corner of my windshield while driving to check my compass, which is where my compass is on my UI. There is no compass in my car.

*Looked up at the top left corner of my windshield to check my lag bar during rush hour

*Hitting the deck when a friend of mine (who also plays EQ) shouted 'Train!' (I play a monk)

*I've caught myself wondering what people /con or what my faction with them is

*Rather than asking where someone is, I asked them 'what's your /loc?'

In the netherlands, where i live, we have numberplates for cars which usually consist of 2 numbers and 4 letters grouped in 2's. When driving to my work i tend to see the numberplates and get reminded of zones all the time

i do similiar with any 2 letter abbreviations i see..
ill see a stream of zones/mobs/drops that makes absolutely no sense.. read them as if i was int he game..
and then suddenly think "the hell?"

i constantly try to "scroll up" when i miss what someone says and get very irritated that i can't.

sometimes i don't really pay attention to what someone's saying, because i always have /log on, i can just look it up later.

when i can't find something, i wonder if i've stuffed it in my husband's bank, and then i wonder if he's using his account so i can log in to check. usually i remember by then ><

i was just wishing i could fit my massage table in a tink bag tomorrow for my outcall appointment, instead of carrying it by hand, when i came across this thread. now i'm REALLY wishing i could carry 8 WR bags over my shoulders instead of just one or two very heavy ones.

OK... I went on a quilting retreat this weekend.. SOOOO didn't get a whole lotta sleep... bout 2-3 hours per night since thursday.

Sunday Morning 3am: Helping friend hang a BEAUTIFUL stained glass window quilt on the wall, I looked at it and said what skill level is your tailoring at? She said WHAT? I replied, If it's not Maxed I hope you got at least a couple skillups making this.......... the look she gave me..........

I went to bed at that point after having to explain what the heck I meant...

                    Vegas baby

My wife (who does not play EQ) and I flew to Las Vegas for a little minivacation a few weeks back. We tried to save some money and flew Southwest. We arrived about 2hrs early and turned the corner to the gate and there were like 15 people already waiting. Without thinking I say outload, "G...D... They're camping this flight already" Started to explain to my wife what i meant and I could see that OH God look in her eyes and I thought best to shut up and drink my coffee...

For me its the fact that alot of my EQ dialect has crossed over into real life.

When i go to bed i no longer say im going to bed, Im camping c-ya tommorow

When i walk away from a group of folks its no longer Im going to go to such and such, its simply AFK bio/drink/food/smoke and i walk away oblivious to the blank stairs

Its no longer a valid acceptance of understanding anymore, someone says can you come help me paint my house, KK brt

Then ofcourse walking from one room to the next in the house is zoning

Getting bogged down in a boring conversation is laggin me out

When your making dinner your basing your real life recipes on what you would be using in game, somehow my fish rolls never turn out right, must be using the wrong bat wings.

When riding my Katana with no helmet on i wonder if my bard feels like this when he runs.

There are so many, I cant even begin to list them all. When they introduce team sports like football and baseball into EQ I will have to leave the game. Whats that recipe for "Cathcers Mit"?

I have a squarish windshield and I find myself looking for my target box and my compass when driving all the time. Or being confused because, "Shouldn't the clouds be going the other way, if this is North?"

Last year my daughter was in hospital, and I had to take some time off work. I would call in regularly to keep them updated of the situation, and one day, as she was recovering, I was on the phone to my supervisor and made the statement

'I'll hopefully get some information soon, at the moment I'm camping a ... errr... looking for a paediatrician'
