  • custom sigs and colorizing

I have a lovely black and white drawing of a profile headshot of Verdandi, done for me by a friend. It's quite simple, just a line drawing without any shading, kinda like Woody's on GU Comics before he colors them. I'd like to get it colorized to use in a sig or as an avatar or something, but my Photoshop skills are completely inadequate for the task. It won't need much since no background is involved, so it should be pretty easy as such things go.

I do know how to use Photoshop for basic stuff like editing out features and editing others in, but only when the color work is very simple. Given that, would I still need a lot of extra time to figure it how to colorize my picture myself? Any recommended reading?

Or, can anyone recommend any artists who might be willing to do it on the cheapcheap?

      Sorry, Verdandi....Art > Me.

Now, if you can come up with a mathematical formula to tell me what each pixel's color should be, I'll be glad to write a program to color it automatically. Lol.

Wow. It was absolutely amazing how much of that I didn't understand.

I must have been born without the part of my brain that provides visual artistry. I can draw cartoony things "reasonable well"...but I could NEVER shade something to look remotely realistic.

Oh wow that's great! That might be just what I need, and might make me stretch myself a bit in the process. Most of the tools she mentioned are at least vaguely familiar; I've just never learned how to use them properly. That's a whole lotta good stuff to chew on, thanks!!
