Re-using a Name After Deleting a Character

I'm considering deleting an alt, but love his name. Was wondering how long after deleting the alt, can I reuse the name on a newly created character? Hate to have an undetermined period were nobody can use it, and then bang, somebody takes it before me.

I've had it take a few minutes to clear, myself. But usually not even noticable.

A word of CAUTION !!

Usually the name is available either immediately or after a few minutes.

HOWEVER:

a) GM / CSR might, and I stress might, be online at the time. If so they can block "new" names if they feel they aren't according to "Policy." (This is highly unlikely now.)

b) Someone might take the name from under you just by random chance. This HAS happened to me and to a friend.

c) The name might have been placed on "filter" between when you originally got it and now.

If, for any reason, you don't get the name back simply /petition that you accidentally deleted the toon and tried to remake. They may (not will, may) return the old toon.

Thanks and good words of advice. And yes, "may" is a very strong word. I've had no luck with GMs ever helping me, except when they changed a zone on me and one of my characters kept falling to their death because their bind point was up in the sky.

i had that question when i deleted my human necro on the day of thes erver change, had him named Neckro.. i got told immediately.. so i went out, deleted him, immediately created new char, and nothing
