  • Faction while Shrouded

Can faction be raised while shrouded? I mean I get the message saying it got better, but the con has stayed the same. Maybe I havent done enough yet. Just wanting to make sure Im not wasting my time by being shrouded.

To ask the obvious, did you get a single faction message (e.g., kill one mob) or did you get it many times (slaughter greenies for hours)? The vast majority of the time, a single faction hit isn't enough to change how NPC's will con to you. However, if you got many faction hits (enough to shift a faction level) while shrouded and the con didn't change, that's another story, and probably a bug.

See if you can do the Muffin quest with about 1500 muffins and report back as to any changes. You might go from Threatening to Apprehensive.

I am doing a turn in quest, not the muffin tho, and have done about 500 turn ins. I started at amiably and have not moved higher. Someone said that faction was reset back to before you shroud after you unshroud and that would explain it because I have done like 100 turn ins a day and would unshroud after each session, or maybe I just havent done enough yet?

I know faction hits in monster missions are temporary, since you're not actually "you" in the mission. But shrouds should be different; it really IS you. Logically, shroud hits should carry over to your character.

It's not really any more "you" than monster missions. It's your spirit moved into the body of a bear/kobold/mushroom/whatever. Faction is based on NPC's recognizing you for your previous actions. Illusions, of course, screw up that whole argument but oh well.
Anyhow, yes, while shrouded any faction hits you get do not carry over to your unshrouded form. So if you've ever had fantasies of going on a killing spree through your home town (or want to help a paladin with his epic), shroud up and kill away. On the flip side, if you are trying to raise faction, shrouding is a bad thing.

At the bottom there is something about Faction and Shrouding..
I don't know how reliable of a source that is (may be out of date).
Anyway.. there goes my plans of shrouding up and getting some faction for OoW quests

When you shroud, you put your toon in stasis. When you unshroud, you go back to you're toon in the state it was when you shrouded.
