  • When are people going back to buyer/trader?

I'm so confused by all of this rollback stuff, and from what I've seen SOE is being silent on when it's going to be over. So I'm curious- how long are people going to wait it out?
Unless I hear different, I probably won't log in until tomorrow night, but its disheartening! I just came back to playing my main a week ago and now I'm all paranoid to play. Even it would be nice to have confidence to get my buyer back up you know?

Log in and see if you've been rolled back. If you have, I'd say it's safe to start playing again

If not, leave it another day.

      Not necessarily.

First of all, maybe you hadn't even been logged in during all this (like me...was at work, thankfully...er...I mean, I don't like work, but it kept me outta this mess.) Then, you shouldn't be rolled back at all. So, when do you start trading, again?

Secondly, let's say you WERE rolled back. Now, you feel it's safe and setup buyer again. Someone who hasn't been rolled back yet, but bought tons of {insert rare TS item here} comes up and sells you a bunch. Great...will you now get rolled back again?

Frankly, I think ALL characters should have been rolled back as soon as possible. Yes, it would have adversely affected some who were not guilty of anything, but the damage would be minimal. Everyone would have their plat/items back that they had prior to any exchanges. The only things truly "lost" would be experience gained, and items looted (you might lose tradeskilled items and skillups...or you might gain them again, possible even more, when you re-do the recipes.)

At the same time, I understand how much red tape one sometimes has to go through to accomplish something that seems "simple". Who knows how long it could have taken to get proper approval to do a rollback. /shrug

I just wish SOE would say something remotely definite about the timeline here- I'm kinda being left with nothing to do but wait- and its valuable play time here at a time when I'm excited to be back. *shrug*

EDIT: Well I did what I could in this matter- I cancelled my subscription. No game is worth this. I am paid up until May though, so I have time if SOE gets their act together in a timely manner.

I have been rolled back 2 days in a row (despite only buying a picklock in baz before the 1st rollback). DO NOT think that you wont get rolled back again if you have already beeen rolled back.

Think of the stuff the beta vendors were selling was infected with a virus. Characters who bought that stuff from them became infected. Once infected, all the characters on that account become infected. Everyone any infected person trades with becomes infected. If someone's bazaar vendor sells something to an infected person, they become infected. If someone's bazaar barterer buys something from someone whose infected, then they become infected.

There is the potential for an epidemic here. While yes, if SOE had shut down the servers once the problem was identified and rolled everyone back to where they were when the systems were brought down the player base would have lost that first hour or two after systems were first brought up. But, aparently, SOE chose not to back up everyones characters when they brought the systems down. Shame on SOE, but complaints about that don't lend themselves to solving this situation.

As it stands now, there are three possibilities that can be followed.
              1) SOE continues tracking down and rolling back all the characters that are infected. This is a bunch of work for SOE personnel and causes much anxiety amonst players.
              2) SOE bites the bullet and rolls back everyone to where they were prior to server patch, regardless of how long it's been since that character was last backed up. After system have been up this long, this solution would be massively devistating to everyone.
              3) SOE declares that they've identified everyone who's infected and have done selective/target rollbacks of only those characters. They pretend that eveyone belives them even though we all know that at least half of the alpha infected people managed to sneak their purchases past SOE's detection and now our hard earned skill levels are matched by someone who logged in early enough to catch the vendors up and found a method of laundering their goods. Now that SOE has done their work, everything is working as intended.
