I like the new EQPlayers.com service. I can come up with a LONG laundry list of changes/fixes I'd like to see...but it's brand-spanking new...so I'll give it some time to work out kinks. One of the things I don't like is that several of the members of the community are requesting to be able to opt-out of the rankings. Now, I agree completely that they have a right to privacy. I agree with being able to opt-out of display of each of their tabs. I can see putting a placeholder in the rankings like so:

1) JoeSmith
2) SallyJohnson
3) *ANONYMOUS*
4) JohnDoe

But, part of the selling point of the rankings is knowing where you stand against your peers. Speaking for myself, I don't need to really know *WHO* is above/below me...but it is very nice to know how many, and how far...to see if I truly am as pathetic as I sometimes feel.

As far as Alla's...I like it a lot, too...but, again, there are things I'd change about it. First, and foremost, I'd like for it to load faster (and every time instead of every 2nd or 3rd try.) But, I don't pay the bandwidth bills each month, so I'll deal with that unless/until an alternative comes along. Also, there are some things I'd like added/corrected (rarity information, locs for mobs, etc.)

There is only one thing EQplayers really is good for, and that's the magelo set up. The Player spells are nice and have a good amount of information... however their is no real standing on NPC effects, which is the only reason I use lucy in the first place. I don't have a hard time figuring out everything my spells do, only what the AE's I am getting nailed with on raids, or helping to learn and plan for upcoming raids.

Overall, hate to say it, but I am rather disappointed in EQplayers except for the fact that it is an easy way to keep my profile up to date.

I own a small gourmet ice cream shop. Its been in my family for 37 years. I worked there in high school, college and took it over not long after graduation. Its good seasonal work, great employees, very nice customers and we're pretty well known in out part of the state.

Every now an then someone will tell me: "Well you should do it this way" or "If I ran this place..." and I smile politely and apologize over the real or imagined problem. What I do want to tell them is this...

Go out and find a piece of property and buy it: 50-100-125k
Build your structure with commercial water and power: 30-45-50k
Buy all your equipment: 75-100K
Search for good suppliers.
Test and retest your recipes.
Find some good employees.
Advertise and pray people are listening.
Deal with the weather, the competition, rising prices, Dept of Agriculture and Health.
Lose sleep, forgo vacations.
Work for 37 years.
Then tell me what I should do better.

Or...you can take this freshly made cone for two dollars.

Its a tough job to start from scratch and it will take considerable resources and pluck to compete with the "big boys". I hope your site is a success but be prepared for lots of small failures before that first big break.
