In the beginging there was Smithing. Warriors in banded armour were gods. Then came Wu's for the monks. Brewing saw a major increase when Heady Kiola's became a needed componant. Everyone wanted handmade backpacks, unless they could collect 6k and find that Gnome in SolA. After that it was all personal preference.

My favorite tradeskill rumor was "Use blunt weapons on Bears to increase you chance of getting HQ skins" Still makes me laugh to think of it

Ah, the rumours, now that's a good topic!

The other one I remember is that you had more chance of a success if you had the correct recipe book (i.e. the one citing the recipe you were making) in your inventory.

My first character was a wood elf ranger, so after my epic migration across the world to erudin at level 6 (best experience in the game EVER) I back tracked to qeynos and hung out in there and in blackburrow. I feared blackburrow to no end thinking of it to be crazy to even see an elite on track.. well thats beside the point.. I tried out fletching in qeynos finding all those crazy misplaced merchants investing my whole platinum in a fletching kit and enough for 20 arrows (so i thought) I had no idea about skill in it just athat you could do it. The book said i needed a arrowhead(duh) a shaft (yeah, probably) a fletch(so thats how they got the name) and a nock(wtf is a nock?) bought 20 of each off a merchant popped them in my fletching kit and clicked combine... ok now where are my arrows? wtf? SKILL? fudge this crack yo!

I didnt touch another skill for a long time

Now im on my halfling ranger which i made in the frenzy march 15th or whenever it was and after a while i got my fletching to 100 or so..... after figuring out to use one of each at a time. I tried a trueshot, failed, never touched it again.

Now im on my current main who was a half-elf.. got him to 202 fletching
I still feel all rangers are obligated to do fletching
