If you're in a playing mood, but your server is down, here's an alternative to the frustration of "recheck the server" cycles.
I submit the option of a slightly silly *free* online fantasy/ adventure/ light-roleplay game called Runescape. It runs in a Java frame, so there's no download cluttering up your hard drive.
Warning: Your signin will be your character's name, so choose wisely!
Runescape (RS) is positively primitive compared to EQ; but it's free and may serve well as a backup during those inevitable server downtimes. Had I known of it previously, it would've been a handy way to hang out with pals / guildies while waiting for EQ to come up again.
One feature Runescape has is -- yes, you guessed it -- TRADESKILLS!!
(Though theirs are almost painless compared to EQ's.)
Like any other game open to the general public, there are... public... in it. Thankfully, it also has an ignore feature.
This is merely an idea, offered simply because it might help pass the time when EQ is down.
Happy tradeskilling!
